I should think the miners are far most used to dark enclosed spaces, they work down a mine after all, so perhaps for them the capsual isnt as bad as it would be for the rest of us. And to be honest if i had been trapped down there, id be so over the moon to be in that capsule I wouldn't care, id just want out.
I've just switched on - saw the 7th man come out - amazing stuff ...
Exactly Gyps. I'd be very keen to get in that capsule and know i was on my way to the surface.

I get quite emotional when i see them come up, and greet their loved ones they way they have done.
I was hoping they'd use elasticated wire to get the capsules out, accidentally over-estimating its strength and catapult them into the outer atmosphere, thereby necessitating some sort of space rescue in 6 months.

Not as emotional as that blokes gonna be when his wife and mistress twat him over the head upon arrival at the surface.
Its very emotional watching the youngest minor 19 year old Jimmy, at the hospital embraced by his parents. It seems like he may need a lot of help phycologically as he is so young, and didnt want to work in the mine in the first place, was only working there for 5 months.

I wonder if his wife is there for him when he gets up.

I know - you can't but help try and imagine how you'd be in that situation. No 8 was proposed to by his gf while he was down there - she'd turned him down earlier in the year!
Just saw the 8th miner lifted to safety
What time did the rescue start? Is it taking an hour for each man? I've missed most of the details. What time are they expecting the last of the miners to be rescued?
Gripping stuff this and I have to go out in a bit

. think they'd have to knock me out to get me in a tight tube for 20 mins..
Me too.Reference:longcat
It's making me feel claustrophobic just watching it. I would have to be knocked out to get in that capsule.
I watched the 1st one come out because I wanted to see the jubilation. Unlikely I will watch any more due to claustophobia.
I think the first rescue was about 4.am our time,, its taken an hour roughly for each one.
8 miners rescued so far.

Absolutely fantastic news that they are now getting these poor men out. It must have been absolutely horrific conditions down there and is going to take some time for them to readjust.
They`re now starting bringing out the miners who are less well in health.
63yr old Mario Gomez is next. He`s had breathing problems, they`ve given him an oxygen mask for his time in the capsule. He`s the one who sent the note to say the were all alive.

I was watching it live, they are being very cautious and check the capsule, cable etc after every use.It was around 4.00am.I'm usually wake at that time anyway. It was very emotional to see.
Im just watching the wheel that is continuing to turn, the workmen rescuers foot on top of it, it looks to be tied with a couple of different ropes. tubes etc, quite make shift the wheel part at the entrance of the shaft. . Very methodical.
The next survivor with Mario Gomez in the capsule has just surfaced.

Mario Gomez has been through something like this before. Just listening to that. Trapped for 11 days in a capsule before, anyone get the news on that.
Mario is on his knees, praying. This is very emotional.
Mario Gomez warned bosses a month before of the dangers of the mine.

63, demanded a meeting in July and begged them to fix the problems. All his pleas were ignored by mine managers.
His wife yesterday revealed how she begged her husband to quit immediately after he told her about the âdangerousâ state of the works but he said he would stay until Christmas.

It's 15 to 20 minutes to take the capsule to the surface.

I don`t know the circumstances but I believe he was a stowaway on a ship Evelyn. I think his brother was with him. I just heard they drank water from their shoes for 11 days. He lost 3 fingers in a previous mining accident. He`s not had an easy life. He`s safe now.
So emotional
I don`t who the psychologist is on BBC but what a gibber he is.
The capsule has surfaced again. Alex Vega 31 the 10th miner.
It has took 53 minutes for him to surface since the last miner.
Heart wrenching hugs for ages from his wife.

Considering they anticipated not being able to get them out until before Christmas - this is a magnificent job they have all done.
Really very emotional.
Really very emotional.
I find it all truely amazing how they reached the men and are now bringing them to the surface ..brilliance of the highest order
I'm watching it now on Sky. It's great to see that sometimes, against all odds, things really do work out well for people. One happy ending after another, unfolding right before our very eyes - it's amazingly feelgood

You should have seen the first successful rescue at 4 this morning, LL. Everyone was just watching the wheel turning, and I said in here already the first miner's little lad's reaction when he saw his dad just done me in They were saying on the news that with all the modern technology there is, it still came down to a manual operated pulley 'on a bit of rope' to get them out. (Of course there was a lot more involved than that but you know what I mean).

Oh gawd, I would've been a right mess watching it. Just so wonderful that they are getting them out.

That even got me this morning
I agree with you all that it is so touching, and quite wonderful that it has been made possible.
I crumble with each rescue.
As soon as the spiked top of the capsule appears out of the ground that does it to me.
Sadly this experience may have long-lasting detrimental effects on many of them, but for now it is wonderful.

Every time a miner is brought out I blubber, it's incredible how they are doing this. Those poor men must feel so blessed to have been saved.
I wonder how long it will be before a movie is made out of this.

With every one that gets brought safely to the surface I am so relieved. And it's so nice to see good news on the TV for a change
What's nice is to see the President right on the sidelines and that he genuinely gives a toss, he's been there since early yesterday (their time). Can you imagine if that happened here? Couldn't see Cameron or the Queen getting a hard hat on and hanging around, Cameron'd probably lynch them the minute they got out for non payment of council tax and tell them they're not entitled to post traumatic stress therapy on the NHS
