no one has told these rioters to go out and do this...they've chosen too.....they've chosen to partake in the type of behaviour croc described in her post and more.......they're just mindless loutish thugs who wouldn't want a job if it ran up to them singing and dancing in the street shouting 'pick me'.....

why would they work when they can sponge the system...sleep in til midday...and behave exactly how they want when they want with no one to answer too.can anyone honestly see the types croc described putting in a 12 hour day 5/6 days a week?....no chance!

they are to blame.......they love the mindless violence....... they thrive on it...but of course they're not as brave as they'd like you to think...hence the covering of their faces

Agree with every word, Spongey.

I'm actually crying here - I can't believe it!

I'm sure these scenes are raising many of us to tears. Even if we have and will have no ties to London.

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

for me this has nothing to do with disharmony in the community or feelings of despair and such...........this is just mob rule and all out violence..if they really cared about their community would they set fire to corner shops which some bloke has run for years building a business.??........who is probably on first name terms with his customers and works all the hours he can?.......no they wouldn't............would they set fire to shops with homes above them knowing they could kill innocent people?......no they wouldn't..........would they drag a woman from her car and beat her up?? (as croc described in her post)..no they wouldn't

you don't care for your community by torching shops, beating people up and nicking stuff and destroying homes and businesses in your own community

they are low life scum plain and simple

I can't see these thugs stopping if someone goes and asks them nicely. I don't see them stopping if they are tackled by police. So what do we do? Let them carry on destroying the cities?

Agree 100%

I refuse to put it down to disaffected youth etc.IT'S ORGANISED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY! - you simply do not set fire to local businesses.

I agree that there has to be a strong hand to the crowd now, but does nobody agree that this has to be addressed. The MP for Tottenham said this morning this would be bad for selling houses etc in future. Should we not have MPs addressing the problem of the young who haven't got the first idea what to do with their lives after school?

It's down to those who want to be helped also though. And I think we can see these lot don't.

alot of kids don't have any ideas though col........they don't go out and destroy their community because of it............i would bet more than half don't even care if they get a job or not......where's the fun in getting up at 6 on a cold winters morning when you can stay in bed til lunchtime and then saunter off and meet your mates a bit later.....they don't want a job......it's too much effort.....too much interference on their lifestyle......as i said earlier.....can you honestly see the kids doing this putting in 12 hour days 5/6/7 days a week.......i can't

I don't know Sooz. Is it better that they be kept to one place and arrested? I really haven't got the answer

I think the time to address the youths is waaaay after the problem right before our eyes has been dealt with. Now they have to be dealing with the fires, rioting, looting etc. Getting people in danger out safely and making the streets safe again. Deal with the youths problems after they've been caught. If catching them means using force then that's what needs to be done. It's not only youths out there either

A policeman on the news just now said there are lots of spectators out there just now. I don't see why people would do that but I guess they don't want them getting hurt.
