Maybees?  I'm sure that's likely to be true of some of them and likely not true of others...and, some will have absolutely no respect for the police/ 'law and order'....and some of those because of the institutional racism exposed therewithin, when they were young people and we had the 80s riots....... I'm really not being deliberately argumentative here, just think that some of the analysis on here of what is happening is a tad over simplistic

Super, I deffinately (sp) think there's been a multi generational breakdown somewhere. It's time to put it right and get some discipline back to some people 

And the longer this goes on the "Race" card will again take over and raise its ugly head.....

Listening to the Sky interview from Manchester - erm I'm here for money and payback to the Police for nicking us for nuffin' mat.  They can't do anyfink about it can they - says it all doesn't it 

They just interviewed a rioter on Sky News.

He sounded like the most uneducated person that I've ever heard.

"Why are you doing this?"

"To piss the police off innit!"

"Why do you want to anger the police?"

"I dunno".

I can understand that.....no I cannot see why that child should be there either

Reporter on BBC says politicians say no to water cannon and plastic bullets and the like. Errrrm excuse me! has anyone asked the police what they want? 

As usual.....frontline people and those that actually do the job don't seem to matter

Those charged today came from all walks of life, including a graphics designer, a undergraduate and a guy that's signed up for the army....  It's not all uneducated, unemployed thugs. 

these guys are hilarious without meaning to be driving around in their little car helping the police 

Maybe it's to get a reaction from us public. A bit like the newspapers recently 

So....what's their excuse/reason then? 

That is another thing that has been made into an art form in the world...........bigging up the sound of your job, qualifications........CV is taught as a lesson now...........

Sprouty, I'm struck by the no.of yp who have absolutely no 'previous' having become involved in this. So, why??? Leaving out those who are just jumping on the bandwagon/being opportunistic etc.... The socio-economic situation; a sense of hopelessness/helplessness; targeting of black youth by the police;  disrespect for those who they are 'supposed to respect, (look for e.g. at how many v snr. police officers have been suspended/ convicted of crimes in the last couple of weeks alone, not to mention the 'white collar' crimes of our politicians); assumption peddled in the media that just about every yp is inherently bad; removal of funding for youth projects etc. etc. etc.

Also, Live on Sky now they just shown a few trying to break into a jewellers... reporter had to move quick as a group of masked men near them.

Supposed to be a large group of masked men walking up Gt Bridgewater street heading towards Deansgate locks. May of been those that the reporter had seen, sounds like he really was sh*tting himself.

I don't know the answer Pam. but we had the same in the 80's and the politicians and media today say it's a different scenario
