I'll see...
Allright but Roger the Alien does make me laugh. American Dad is one of the few programmes I'll happily watch an umpteenth repeat of.
we got to 51 pages. how'd we do that?
Got scaffolding around my building... weird seeing people walk past your window when you live 1 up.
Oh aye I'd that problem when I lived at Bachelors Walk in Dublin. Be careful when you open your curtains in the morning .
51 pages!!! makes me feel sad though... did you ever keep in touch with Ruby?
The lack of natural light is making me listless.
Yes, got Ruby and Temps on facebook and twitter.
The lack of natural light is making me listless.
Yes, got Ruby and Temps on facebook and twitter.
There is that. Hopfully the workmen won't be there long.
I think Temps nipped into the BB forum recently. Its good you're still in touch with Ruby... hope things are going well for her.
think so. she seems ok... just tried to start a game of draw something with her... I hope we got the right apps. I got confused. :S
Ah good. Please would you tell her I said hello sometime?
I shall.
Ruby sends her hellos.
Thanks Hitch *waves back to Ruby*
Did you see Richard Hammond on the ads for Planet Earth Live? Thats an odd fit. I'd kind of prefer Chris Packham doing it.
I didn't.. in fact what is this thing? It sounds environmental... maybe Hammond is there to be all "see! TG presenters aren't all anti-environmental! look how cute he is! you like him on that show with the people falling over! watch TG!"...
Sort of like that bit during the grand national with James May (and Rory! we didn't see Rory... ). He did a nice vignette for them...I actually learned stuff about the inner workings of horses. Also... new man lab soon.
JM was part of the Grand National coverage? Rory who... Rory McGrath?
Heres the Planet Earth Live trailer http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rbgbd
... lots of baby animals which is always a winner.
Rory was the wee guy they took the mick out of on Manlab.
I saw it on the telly today... before or after Pointless, can't remember which.
Aaaaaaaargh! *jumps out of skin* scary new avatar Hitch
Sorry! Sorry!
It's Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows (as played by Jonathan Frid, who passed on the 13th of this month. ). It was a 1960s supernatural soap opera, Sci-fi channel reran them in the 90s... I used to make sure my vcr was set on a sunday night to record them for the week when I was at school.
Coolest vampire ever. Angel and Spike, I love too but even they pale by comparison... as for that Cullan joker? we'll say no more.
He is about to be absolutely ruined by Johnny Depp/Tim Burton in our local cinemas. *nods*
Ah I see. He certainly looks creepy.
Well... he is a vampire. He's not evil though. One of the good guys, well, good-er, it is a soap.
In the later episodes when there is colour film (exciting!), you can see that he isn't the stereotypical pale skinned vamp. The make-up department were slightly heavy with the bronzer/blusher.
That is one of the rare occasions that you see him vamped out. If I remember correctly, he's only killed "baddies" after he got released (175 year locked in a crypt must make you hungry)... And Dr Hoffman had a way to cure/control the bloodlust too.
Very cool, calm and collected our Barnabas and intelligent. *nods* The new movie seems to have Depp jumping around all "wah! what is this new fangled technology! *panics*" and ye olde... Barnabas was nothing like that, very adaptable.
*rabbit rabbit rabbit*
I'm geeking out again. I do apologies.
Sounds like a really good series. I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before.
If you ask me... vampires started going downhill with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt
Ah yes... Whichever bright spark decided to cast Tom Cruise as Lestat?! Brad Pitt as Louis?! Kirsten Dunst as... oh gods I can't remember her name. lol Armand was ok... I guess. Puss in boots did him I think? Another one were I think the book is superior.
It was a good series, if you excuse cheesy soap-like nature of it and the wobbly cardboard tombstones.
I wish they'd replay it again, a few vcr hiccups mean I have next to no grasp of what was happening during the Leviathan storyline.
I quite like wobbly carboard props. The original Star Trek had lots of unconvincing sets, even as a kid I noticed
*nods* When I was even younger it was Prisoner Cell Block H. wibbly-Wobbly jail cells for the win!
Ah-a but you're too young to remember Blake's Seven. Now THAT was a cheapo series [ still brilliant mind you ]
Technically I'm too young to remember Dark Shadows. All hail reruns and the interwebs!
Yay for the interweb
[I'm really enjoying Mad Men series 5 at the moment]
The real Don Draper died in the Korean war. His identity was assumed by Dick Whitman, who exchanged dog tags with the corpse.
Ah I see. Any reason?
Its kind of a long story. He didn't like his old life. He was dirt poor farm boy. His stepmother hated him because his real mother was a... ummm... lady of easy virtue, who died giving birth to him. Dad dead, only a half brother. Pretending he'd been killed was the best way to leave it behind and not have any more ties to it I suppose.
Him and the guy whose identity he assumed [ who was a middle class engineer type ] were digging a trench when the other guy got killed by a bomb. He looked at the charred corpse in shock... and then switched tags.
Oh and I think the other guy had less time left to serve in Korea, and Don/Dick saw it as a way to get out of the war sooner.
Ah ok... That seems fair enough. *nods*
Glad to be of service. Anything you want to know about Mad Men just ask. Now its my turn to geek out I love reading MM reviews/blogs and getting all peeved when they get tiny details wrong
Geeking out is the natural order. *nods*
Makes me laugh that people get called geeks for liking sci-fi/fantasy.... by people that can tell you what brand of fake tan so-and-so from TOWIE wears. Don't they know that's what "geek" is?
Do you read the recaps on TWoP? I don't always agree with them (they didn't understand the ending to Lost, I think Cindy got it... but the site in general didn't), but enjoy the snark.
Just read their latest Mad Men recap. It was quite god, but a bit short. I like going over every detail with a fine tooth comb - there's so much to savour.
It must be a weecap show then. They do weecaps as well as recaps...
Lost was recap, Chuck was weecap... I think it depends on what kind of show it is... Maybe mad Men isn't so much a mythology show?
Probably. Though it did get a bit fantasy-like last week when Roger did an LSD trip.
Oh dear! It was probably more sensible than the flight of conchords lsd scene... although, they had a great song.
It was a bit wacky. Whenever he opened a vodka bottle an orchestra played. Then his hair went half black half white. Then he saw himself playing in the 1919 "Blacksox" World Series. He woke up next morning full of insight and told his wife the marriage was over.
B.t.w. I'm getting used to your avatar. He seems quite dashing in a Steed kind of way
