It was. We made it to the play offs and I recognised a load of the Ospreys players from the Wales team.
Well done for beating the Ospreys
James May's dad was in the last Man Lab, hunting for his wedding ring on the beach. Was quite good.
Cool... if I remember correctly James' dad was quite cool.
James was up here this week. Doing Lands End to John O'Groats with Chris Evans (Sadly not Capitan America), Brian Cox (Sadly not Hannibal Lecter) and Gary Barlow (Sadly him from Take That). Was for breast cancer charity I think, they were in a pink limo.
Really? Well done to JM Wouldn't like being in a car with those 3 but its all in a very good cause. Hurray!
Saw The Hunger Games on Netflix - was excellent Though they have horrible fashion in the future.
Capitol fashions are horrendous. I'm wondering if they'll show Tygress in the 3rd (4th maybe, I've heard of yet another final book split to two movies deal. )
I actually like Woody Harrelson in this. I haven't liked him since Cheers.
Ditto about Woody Harrelson
The o.t.t. fashion, powdered faces and hair reminded be of the French Revolution aristocracy? Also the thing with bread...You certainly root for the downtrodden heroes. Can't wait for the sequel.
That could be a thing... The politics of the districts becomes more important in the 2nd and 3rd books.
There's few things I think I'll find hard to watch... I know it'll not be as graphic as the books... but, just knowing...
Ooh how tantalising
Which do you think was better - books or film?
Think I you asked you this before, but can't remember. Sorry... I'm a human goldfish.
I don't think you have. Well, not considering the movie finished yet... ask me again when the final one is out.
There's a few subjects the first movie didn't broach... considering what they added from the second book. For example, you don't find out about Seneca Crane until the second book, but he's a big part of the first movie. Although, I guess that makes sense to show us the game maker.
If you get a chance to read them, do... They are very fast reads. (easy reading level... After a big book, a young adult novel is a welcome rest.)
Did Amazon "look inside" on Catching Fire... tempting. I shouldn't though, don't want to ruin the film.
If you'd rather watch the films first, that's fair enough.
Was her hunting + and roasting squirrels in the book? Also where her Mum "lost it" and withdrew after the father's death and she begs her not to do that now, cos she is needed?
Cos both were in Winters Bone - spooky coincidence.
yes, she mostly sells the squirrels... to the peacekeepers. Also, swaps them for bread from Peeta's dad.
I never saw Winter's Bone... not really a movie person. Although, Clydebank on Tuesday for cheep entry Iron Man I think. XD
The character Jennifer Lawrence played in Winter's Bone was quite similar.
Yeah... you're more a kindle kid aren't you?
Kindle, books and telly... I'm sorted.
How are you keeping?
Hanging in thanks My marigold seedlings aren't doing too well but just repotted them to a bigger tray which might help.
Speaking of kindle I'm enjoying Hilary Mantel's A Place Of Greater Safety [ about the French Revolution]. Not as good as Wolf Hall but good.
How are you keeping? How is your breakfast duty?
We did Marigolds in primary. They looked a bit lost in the trays to be honest. We should've stuck with the cress and mustard... we were primary 3.
I don't know how I'd do with historical fiction. I struggled through 10(!) chapters of Les Mis detailing the battle of Waterloo... only the last one really being of any importance to the story. Apparently, it is the worst part of the book and once you are past it everything is rosy. Also today, I got a free paperback of Girl with a Pearl Earring... added to the "to read" list. You read that?
I'm ok... middling, as always... as is best really. Breakfast is going ok. Numbers have dropped a wee bit, but thankfully we were always mostly free meals kids, so it's not too bad.
Just saw the film of GWAPE, thought it was a bit boring. Tell me how you find the book.
I imagine Les Mis is a heavy read in more ways than one!
The seedlings might not have got enough air, so they're in front of the open window now. Have more seeds so can always have another go.
Les Mis is brilliant... just skip the Waterloo stuff. XD
I didn't like the look of the movie, but the point of these free paperbacks is to get you to read something different.
Hope that works.
Thanks, hope so.
Eeek I have 3 days left of a Netflix subscription and lots of movies to get through: Drive, The Cabin In The Woods, Shutter Island, Battle Royale, Hidden. Where to start?
