Imagine if Charles marched on, only 9 people against him in Nothumberland, think it was. If he had re-established the Stuart monarchy - no Hanoverians - No George ( forget which one ) who lost the American War of Independence. No Queen Victoria. Nor her grandson the Kaiser who took Germany to war, which led in turn to the Treaty of Versailles which harshly punished Germany and eventually led to resentment and the rise of Hitler.
Makes you think.
yeah... but maybe there'd have been a course correcting incident and things would have turned out similar anyway.

Ahhhh is that a Terry Pratchett thing?
no lost... desmond saved charlie from dying multiple times.. but the universe kept trying to kill him... making sure what's meant to happen happens.
pratchett is more the trouser legs of time... huge everett's all worlds theory... any choice you make, alternate realities sprout off in every direction you could've have went.

I wish... if I still lived in Dublin I would. Heard about the 9 shows on Gerry Ryan show ( RTE Irish radio online ). He's going at the weekend and will tell all on Monday.
Ooh ooh! TG on Sunday features Jezza racing in the storm drain under Belfast. Hope he doesn't slag off my home town, like he did Romania. Don't know how I'd feel about that : (
i'm sure he will... he is jezza... i don't think he'd be able to help himself.
james is on paul o'grady today!
over the christmas period top gear will air a show were they take on el camino de la muerte... just incase you need a translation that's the road of death.
richard makes a new friend according to the xmas/new year radio times...

Yikes I missed James... but thanks for telling me anyway. Oh brilliant - Christmas TG sounds good... if a little scarifiying.
History of Scotland ( Tobacco + slavery episode ) just finished. There were no knees, but N.O. was sporting a fine five o clock shadow + looked very dashing by candlelight. Phwoarrr.
yeah the next episode has knees...this weeks must be the last.. there was mention of the 80's... i prefer the medieval stuff to be honest.
Former Member
Yes it was interesting, the older stuff. And sometimes gory too heh heh
Yay!!! Jezza didn't slag off Belfast. Though with an angry ice hockey team bearing down on him - good idea.
yay for jezza!

Yay for Jezza : )
Wonder how they got the car on top of the crane? ( There are two huge ones at Harland + Wolfe shipyard, called Samson and Goliath ). Belfast - like Glasgow - was a big ship building town once.
yeah, i saw when i sailed in on the cairnryan to belfast boat last time i was in ireland. big buildings kind of like our granary (gone now.. to make room for ugly flats).
i have a big yellow cran outside my window... other side of the river mind... so it's not massive part of the view.
james is on have i got news for you tonight by the way. and on twitter.com/Mr JamesMay

It made me laugh, they think alike They'd be a good partnership.
Speaking of which, saw in the Christmas RT, that Oz Clarke has been partnered with High Dennis on a drink show. Hope this means what I think it means...

LOL! Yes, he looked great.
Good for Scotland. The Church of Ireland ( Irish version of Anglicans ) offered relief to the starving, but only if they converted from catholicism to protestantism. Hence nowadays, you have a lot of protestants in NI with Irish/catholic surnames. I'm not sure what the Catholic Church did for the famine poor either - probably nothing

probably... religions aren't the best people to go to for help...
so, have you bought your mp3 of 'killing in the name of' by rage against the machine yet? stop x factor getting the xmas number one again.

On the subject... whats your favourite Chrismas pop song Hitch?
On the subject... whats your favourite Chrismas pop song Hitch?
i should say st winifred's school choir, but that would only be because it's my birthday number 1 too... but i wont, cause it's not a good song...
weirdly enough there's a smurf's song from a couple of years ago, i always end up singing any time of the year. 'your christmas wish' i think it's called. what about yourself?

Oooh don't know either of those.. is the first one called "Grandad" ?
Normally my favourite is the Pogues + Kirst McColl...this year Nat King Cole " Merry Christmas" is making me feel so Christmassy though.
you it was 'there's no one quite like grandma' you are thinking of the song by jones from dad's army.
pogues one is always good.
not really feeling christmasy yet... although it did snow yesterday.

Yep thats it. Snow!!!! None here, but I live in the marina ( ie beside the sea ) so it hardly ever snows here.
What can we do to make you feel Christmassy?
well, it was only a little snow... didn't lie.. living in a valley is as bad for snow as a marina.
i really don't know... i've eaten candy canes, worn my rudolph stuff for the kids at xmas lunch, been singing the smurf song and aste...umm... fideles... i can't spell it, but it's 'oh come all ye faithful' in latin.... i don't know it in english... nada.

not too keen on the muppets version...
although this ratm/trying to claim back the xmas number 1 race is making me think back to the days when you never knew who it could be... even if it was bob the builder! and we have already succeeded because there has been a publicised race. but i do so hope we get it all the same. that is making me feel more xmasy already.
