In the light of DUNE being remade (bad idea as the first was atrocious). Which movies could be so much better if they were given 21st Century twist of magic?

1 Witness (Harrison Ford)
2 Gremlins
3 The Star Chamber (Michael Douglas)
4 Flatliners (Julia Roberts)
5 Twilight Zone
Dracula Prince of Darkness?
Maybe some of the Hitchcock movies?
Am racking my brain for films that haven't already been remade ..
Remakes are very often a disappointment. The excitement/tension of a first watch is lost.

I like Michael Douglas
Fugitive was good, but think that has been remade?
Both are classics imo

Don't think so
Tommy Lee Jones was good in that too....is there anyone who could play that part as good
That's the problem with remakes ....parts belong to certain actors don't you think?
Police Academy

Wasn't that film series done to death.....lost count of how many

Hitchhikers Guide springs to mind, and the aforementioned Dune, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (both), A Wrinkle in Time, John Carter of Mars.
Didn't get, nor enjoyed neither the book or film of Hitchhikers guide ...hands up don't shoot me! (husband and no:1 son loved it)
Charlies choc factory had a remake with Johnny Depp...never saw it...was it better than the original?

Hitchhiker would be a great remake
Liked the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but not the Jonny Dipp version. Jon Carter and Wrinkle in time = not a clue

Have you seen the TV series? Still stands up strongly IMO - especially the "computer graphics" which were actually done by stop-motion animation but still look better than the real computer graphics used in the film...
To be fair, the TV series had the advantage of being essentially a direct adaptation of the original radio series (which of course pre-dates the books... ), and retained most of the cast: IIRC, the only significant change was Sandra Dickinson being brought in to play Trillian.
Hitchcock's The Birds
