Oh blimey: one of those questions that's virtually impossible to answer!
Depending on who I'm talking to, I usually give my favourite film as either "Casablanca", "Seven Samurai" or "The Empire Strikes Back".
Some of you may remember a while back a bit of a fad on this forum for Flickchart - a movie ranking website. I dusted down my entry, and (bearing in mind I haven't updated it in a while) my Top 5 were:
1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) The Godfather
3) Star Wars (Ep.4)
4) Casablanca
5) Seven Samurai
My top films are a bit Star Wars/SF-heavy, if I'm honest. I think I'd normally place Star Wars further down.
For interest, the rest of my Top 10 were:
6) WALL-E
7) The Godfather Part II
8) 2001: A Space Odyssey
9) Blade Runner
10) This is Spinal Tap
I'm particularly pleased about having WALL-E and Spinal Tap in there: I was quoting Spinal Tap online just earlier this week!

Oh, all right...
Given my earlier comment about Star Wars (plus the fact that I'd really like to have an animated film in my list), I'm going to resubmit my Top 5 as:
1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) Casablanca
3) Seven Samurai
4) The Godfather
5) WALL-E
I need to think...I shall be back
It's called 'tough love' Eugenie

it's very difficult, so many to choose from...
1) The Help
2) Avatar
3() Mississippi Burning
4) Tomorrow Never Dies
5) The Martian
Gawd! Too hard my friend. Even 10 would be impossible for me. Sometimes it depends on how I'm feeling. I've tried doing a top 100 songs and that was nigh on impossible.
I just wish I was the sort of person that could.
Like Eugene, SciFi would feature heavily in my selections. I have just purchased the new 4K UHD release of 2001: A Space Odyssey, looking forward to what will be a superb picture. Over the years I have watched the original Terminator film many times. Star Trek has always been my go to franchise over the years. What I will say is that two films I watch a lot are:
Alien
Blade Runner
Like Twickers, I do like a Sergio Leone western, along with the superb soundtracks. Throw into the mix the excellent Clint Eastwood Unforgiven. Also there is the comedy side of the western genre that appeals with films like His Name is Nobody, and the Trinity films.
Always enjoyed Bond films, some I like to watch many times throughout the year. Again, a comedy take on the spy genre with films like Our Man Flint and In Like Flint have recently been upgraded in my collection from DVD to Blu-ray. More seriously I would add The Ipcress Files.
A few more films that I enjoy but would be hard to choose between are:
Yeah, I'm pretty rubbish at small lists.

Dunno, I think Tomorrow never dies could be possible in the future Saint, it fascinated me and The Martian which I expected to be naff turned out to be really gripping and enjoyable

Fun Fact:
Did you know that the title "Tomorrow Never Dies" came about as a typo?
The film was meant to be called "Tomorrow Never Lies", but an early draft of the script was misspelt...
