There are a lot of threads that simply don't interest me because I think they are nothing more than "clique" threads - the SIT, the Darnell Towers, the Starship Newmark, the Footie Thread (sorry if I've gotten the names wrong). I don't understand what the threads are about and I'm not about to read through hundreds of pages to find out.

Suzi I think everyone in the top ten would agree with you. I don't know them all personally but I know many of them, and none of them are people who post just for the sake of it. We ALL just reply to stuff that interests us. I honestly have never read anything on this forum that suggests people strive for high post counts..certainly not in a serious way. Some people just chat more than others that's all.

...in my experience, the high post counts that are linked with the long running threads... SITs, Towers, Newmark etc.... are cos we gossip... we chat.... and it cranks your post count up at an alarming rate..... BUT, as the bulk of it is posted within those threads, it shouldn't interupt the more serious debates in other threads ! So...everybody happy

I think most of us would agree that the number of posts someone has made has little to do with their validity! Or I maybe naive... I don't notice post counts on here so much... with the absense of all the twirly stars and stuff!

But neither does having a high post count devalue an FM ... IMO I happen to be retired, so have lots of spare time, so... while other people may be housebound....
