Lord Bracadale retired to make his decision at about 1110 GMT. He is expected to return to court in about 30 minutes.
Anytime now.
My stomach`s doing somersaults.
He`s a fighter. He`ll cope.
As long as he behaves himself, he could be out in 18 months at most.
He could even be out on HDC (Home Detention Curfew) in 12 months.
I know you`re not a fan of Tommy Yogi, and he did make a mess of this, but I admire him for his fight against the Poll Tax and his fervent fight for the rights of the working class.
That will always stay with me..no matter what.
And I admire your loyalty to him, Scotty.
However....Canoe man got 5yrs for fiddling big business.....yet.....people who commit murder by motor vehicle get less.....people who commit GBH get less....beat someone to a pulp and you get Community Service.....either that sentence is too long, or other crimes that aren't about money should get longer sentences
Absolutely crazy.
As some have said, it seems that you get more for crimes involving theft or fraud than you do for taking someone's life sometimes.
As Richard Keys would say.
!
Hang on.
Here`s another fine example.....

And you`re right, it is a p*ss take.
Hi Ken **
Seriously, the first place he headed for was Seaton Carew beach!
Dunno why he's come back North, there's nowt and nobody for him, his missus is still locked up. Maybe he's looking for the rest of his canoe.
I don't think he got too long. OK, I'm torn because it was the NOTW he was trying to rip off, but at the end of the day, he knowingly started a lawsuit (the we pay for) based on lies, expected people to lie for him and all for personal gain, not for 'the good of the people'. This has nothing whatsoevr to do with whatever good you may or may not think he's achieved in the past, surely. At worst he's been a greedy, sneaky, manipulative, lying individual... at best he's been a bit of a buffoon.
I agree in relation to some sentences handed out it may seem light, but the law is reknowned for handing out stupid sentences and two wrongs don't make a right. As it is, he's likely to be doing 1 out of 3 weeks at home by the end of this year and free early next year. Six months and he'd home free by Easter..... sadly not ÂĢ200k richer.....
