I love him too, but also think he should try and do some comedy or something light hearted... he used to do it in the 80s... Big/Bacheclor Party/Sleepless in Seattle etc..  Leo DiCaprio is the same, a good actor, but too busy trying to impress everyone with lengthy epics, and so desperate to get an oscar, that he's lost sight of why he became an actor.. to entertain, and to be diverse.. surely that is what being an actor is all about.  Still, Hanks is brilliant.  And does always seem very nice.    Johnny Depp is brilliant, and does many many different roles,, and isnt afraid to do silly or goofy roles.

After reading the papers, doing the crossword, watching our excellent television, cycling, and doing things around the house, I have little time to watch filums. The last time I went to the cinema was to see "independence day" sometime in the 90's. I only occasionally see a film on the tellybox. However, for me, Johnny Depp is a long way ahead of the rest. IME Tom Hanks seems to specialise in emotional/maudlin shite and George Clooney is good in adverts. Lastly, I bet I have been to Villa pork more times than 'im!

Which was kinda my point.  I used Clooney as an example but Depp is even better.

Hanks has (or had) serious clout at the box office and he didn't really use it.  So he's a favourite and loved by folk without actually leaving the mark he could have done up till now.  Could still do, of course.

The idea that Hanks has won two Oscars and been nominated for x-many more and an actor like Depp has won nowt is laughable

Hanks has the talent but he hasn't used it enough.  To argue against that is retarded.
