I remember when any of us were banned there would be messages passed from the banned to CH4 via our pals on other sites..relaying the sad news
I was banned for saying "cackpoo" Lee informed the forum for me

I know some that were banned for the overuse of the word 'Fork'. 
In a way that's what made C4 so good.  The laughs we had outwitting the ban stick.

awww Scotty, I remember that.  The forum would go into uproar and there'd be 'Bring Back' threads, that would be deleted like a flash.  I remember doing one for Cax and it was bopped in a second because me and Vix were smoking pot

I also remember my first encounter with a bannee...I was posting with Toots and he got bopped and mousey came in to inform us....I felt so bad I think I went on forum strike

I got bopped twice.

1st one was a long running thread in off topic (it was pages and pages long) where people were posting song lyrics.  Me and Nitey got bopped for posting in it but Karma didn't (or it might have been vice versa)...the bopping was for copyright...even though the artists were credited. No one else in the thread got banned, just two of us

2nd time was during BB, someone was saying Derek Laud wasn't a Tory   I said yes he is, he used to be a speech-writer for Thatcher and all kinds!   Oh no he didn't was the reply...So I put the link to Derek's CV on wiki.  My bopping was for "linking to unsuitable websites with unsubstantiated info"

I was bopped twice on Ch 4 - the first time was because I sneakily tried to give Smiler my email address so he could show me his holiday pics.

The second time was for starting a thread in response to several "I love the geighs" threads, which I thought were quite patronising and started "I love the straights".  The mods were not amused.

Remember when Dermy got bopped for being homophobic?  The most laughable thing about that was the mods KNEW he lived with Smiler coz they'd had to sort out with the mods why they were suddenly posting from the same IP addy.

I was banned once for 3 months for placing a link to a pic of the puppet from Saw.  The reason it was three months was that I hadn't tried to log on in that time and so didn't know I had been bopped / got the email / had to reply,etc. I like to think it might have riled them that their ban bothered me that much.

Probably!  I think there were a lot of Fm's who were quick to hit the report button as well.  I can remember a lot of "reported" being posted.   Trollop and I would "fake" report each other for hours.  Well, it amused us!

CH4 was a load of crap Cags The ONLY thing it had going for it was new posters, people found it via BBLB or the official BB site.  Or from googling stories about BB HMs/BB news.

That's the only thing I miss, the diversity.  I know it's hypocritical, because I don't start many threads...but I do miss the range of topics we discussed, and that was because of the range of people we had.

 T'feck with that.  I was bopped for saying Oiche Mhaith 3 times.

DD The strange thing was, Lolly introduced the word on the Xfactor thread and we`d ALL been using it that night...it was a great laugh.
My ban notice said I`d also used "shoit" in a thread a couple of months earlier. I was obviously being monitored

But that was true!   How many pages did the Kris is a Wanker thread get to before Kris was evicted?  It really is a lot nicer here.

i agree lecs, gaga  powers need to find a way  to promote the site, otherwise we'll all be here when  we get our pensions arguing with each other...

it's a huge relief to be here suzi,ch4 was like a prision in the end.

It was Leccy but it was home for years and where most of us met our online friends. All the spin off forums and people still went back to ch4.

ch4 was great for a while the mods used to join in and have a laugh and then it got more and more controlled and 'on message' at the end the whole place was a farce.

I don't think it helped when people pushed the mods....seeing how far they could go before getting banned

It was 'home' but I have to admit, I'd reached the end of my tether with the trigger happy mods and random deletions. By its demise, I felt that it wasn't worth posting as chances were, it might go *poof* for no apparent reason. It changed massively. I began to feel that the admin barely tolerated our presence ...that we were an expensive nuisance. When we didn't vote with our feet, they voted with their boot.

My bans were always for calling housemates names,one such was for calling Carole ..A rising behemoth.
Another one was for calling the one  hair on my chin..a fanny hair.
Got banned for calling Ziggy a nob ,notice the bans were all for later shows,you used to get away with that and worse post BB8.

Aye.  I like fresh meat   It all gets dead incestuous when we don't have turnover of FMs we need people coming and going to keep things interesting.

I've learned loads and loads since joining CH4...stuff I never would have discovered if it hadn't been for other FMs.  I like a daft threads as much as anyone but I LOVE threads that introduce me to new ideas, new websites, new people, new "things" LOVE 'EM

  Even those who deride gaga are still here, if not posting everyday, they are reading.

A lot of people have left, but I don't think it's entirely due to the structure or format here.  It's a shame that people have left, but there is nothing anyone can do about it.  As long as I enjoy this forum, I will continue to post.
