Just been out with my Mum to help her with her xmas shopping and I'm now excited.  When I say help her I mean I took over and just needed her to pay at the till   but that's the reason why she asks me to help her every year   She's now wondering how long she has to wait for the Xmas tree to be put up but seeing as it's me who does that for her too I think she'll have to wait til at least the 1st December because I need to have most of my shopping done before I can even start thinking about trees and stuff.....otherwise I panic!

Can't wait either...  The best time of the year for me, and I love it..    Everything about it is wonderful!

Not sure how long it will be before people start posting negative comments about it on your thread though sweet.  Whenever anyone posts an 'I'm excited about Christmas' thread - there's always someone who has to bring the thread down by saying they hate it.  It really is quite a shame when people do that, and out of order imo.     Just because THEY hate it, why spoil it for people who enjoy it by putting a dampener on the thread?

Hopefully it won't happen on this thread.

Cupcake, I totally respect that some people don't like Christmas, or, rather more often, have lost someone dear and find Xmas really difficult.. I think that if people don't like the festive threads, they should rather just ignore them. My remaining family members are beyond humbugs, but I don't let it get me down, I'm a crazy festive mad Christmas loving loon-and I love it!

Sweet, I'm all ready for it.  Cards are written, gifts have been bought AND wrapped.  Just waiting for December 1st to put the tree up. God help me if it snows earlier than December 1st, the tree will definitely go up then.

However, one miserable member of my household does not look that impressed by it all.

Cinds

When I met my OH he hated Xmas.  He grew up with an alcoholic abusive 'father' who ruined almost every xmas either by drinking all the money or wrecking the house and my OH just hated xmas.  Over the years though I've been able to show him how xmas was done in my house and he's slowly turned from hating it to loving it and I love that he finally gets to enjoy the best time of the year with us.

Syd I have a very vague memory of wandering around the landing and stealing apples from my sisters stockings.  My Mother confirms I did that when I was 18 months.

Not my first memory but one that sticks out the most.  I had asked for a 'piano' for xmas.  I meant a keyboard of course not a real piano of course, and was sooooo excited about getting it.  Xmas morning my sister woke me up at about 5am and we ran down stairs where I saw my stack of presents with my stocking on top and I just stood there gobsmacked.  I had got a fricking bun burger shitty keyboard thing while my older sister got an electric keyboard

It's the first time in years I have been this organised. (I sat and wrote the cards tonight before I came on here).

However, I am doing a forum Christmas tombola, just take a ticket, the prize is amazing.  Should I start a new thread for this?

Ells that's lovely.  Mr Cinds was a proper bah humbug Christmas man too.  But a couple of Christmas mornings of living with us, he was the one all excited and running across the landing to knock on the boys door to wake him up, then running back to bed.

Cinds

I remember one year when my two daughters were little (after a couple of year of collapsing into bed only to be woken up an hour later on Christmas Eve) let them stay up late telling them to wait until they heard the birds sing on Christmas morning before getting up...............7.30 came I jumped out of bed (Thinking I'd missed Christmas) the girls were sound asleep...........I sat on the loo....making bird sounds loudly to wake them up .....Kids...'oud ave em?

I love xmas and it really saddened me that the OH hated it so much and tbh it was ruining my xmas's and I wasn't for having that!

I love Christmas best time of the year but ..........................................sorry - it's a tad too early for me - I like it condensed not strung out over Weeks - 10th December - I  start getting excited- deccies don't go up till 17th (at the earliest) I think if you start too early it gets a bit diluted.

Sorry - that is just my opinion .......................don't dsparage others for getting in the mood early - whatever floats your boat!

Soozy Woo
No problem sooz we'll look forward to December 17th when you join us I'll take a tombola ticket please Early Xmas memories; Going to sleep on Xmas eve in my parents bed (my g'ma was in mine I think) and getting butterfly excitements, and kicking my feet in the bed!
