This whole 'Vinnie is a bully' malarky.

Some people have said that Vinnie is a bully for his treatment of Alex. As usual the word 'bully' has been unthoughtfully(is that even a word?) thrown out there. All I see is two blokes having a bit of banter with one another, with Vinnie being a wind-up merchant....but that's what us blokes do to other blokes. We take the piss out of them, wind them up in front of others. Its sort of a male pride, superior, status type thing.

No harm is ever intended, plus it seems that Alex takes it all in his stride and likes to give as good as he gets.....although Vinnie does have the upper hand.

Just my 3 pence worth.

I think it would look better if Alex had some comebacks, but he doesn't, and he does seem a bit upset by it, sometimes.

I get the feeling even if Alex did have some comebacks he wouldn't use them

I reckon he is either trying to come across as Mr Nice Guy and just laugh everything off or he knows someone being picked on always gets the votes

I just don't think he's bright enough to come back with anything remotely witty or intelligent, so he just smiles.

The above says it all. Why does needling another guy assert superiority or status? Vinnie is all ego - and HAS to be top dog.
His behaviour makes him seem rather inferior, actually.

no, I think without her around he is a nice guy. He is just a little off the right path. And I think Vinnie now sees what a nice guy he is & wants to help him out a little

Alex is not rising to the bait even through his smile he looks uncomfortable,if it was banter as suggested on other threads it would be two people bouncing off one another and being funny,it is one sided with Vinnie being unpleasant he now said he likes Alex would he like him if the tables were turned on him,he has a big ego with an unpleasant nature.

Perhaps it's not two sided banter because (as Cinds suggested) he is not witty enough to bounce back off Vinnie?

He's hardly a 'celebrity'...he wouldn't make the Z list and he doesn't seem too bright either, or have much of a personality. I think Vinnie just winds him up, because he can, it's a man thing.
Perhaps if Alex kept his clothes on and didn't suck up to the likes of Stephen, he wouldn't provide others with the ammunition

I see Rawky point of view - this does go on, BUT ...
Vinnie is singling Alex out - he don't do it to the others so by Rawky's explanation ...
Vinnie feels his male pride/supperiority is under threat and is trying to put Alex down
If he was doing it to them all - ok
That he selects one young, fit guy comes across as old guy losing it slightly and not liking it (though occasionally funny)

We see it from the outside and comment on how we see it with differing opinions. The important thing is how Alex sees it and how he feels as to whether it is banter or bullying I suppose
