I've already implied this in other threads, but as it currently stands I won't be watching "civilian" BB again either. (I don't generally watch CBB as it is, so nothing will change on that score.)

I'm not going to say "never again" because I would reconsider my position if significant changes were made to the show,

The return of a significant amount of live feed would be an essential starting point (and I do mean significant - i,e, considerably more than the 10 hours we were promised for BB15 but then never received   ).

I would also want to see some formal commitment from the producers to a return to the show's central "Who goes? You decide" concept, i.e. no more free passes, no more evictions without audience voting, etc. A re-commitment to the "no outside contact" rule would be nice too.

Ideally, I'd also like to see a return to more "normal" HMs, i.e. no more Z-list celebs who already have their own agents, but I seriously doubt that will ever happen while the show remains on C5.

Let's just say I'm not holding my breath on any of these changes happening in the foreseeable future...

I being of sound mind have decided to say that I will not be watching Big Brother again. Not just the civilian version, but the so called celebrity versions too. Even though I am just one person I want to make a stand and dent the viewing figures by one and hope that others do the same. I'm voting with my feet, walking away and not looking back.

It's pretty sad that it has come to this but I have noticed the show in decline for years now (in actuality I saw it start the downward trend in the Channel 4 days too). It's been raising my blood pressure far too much and last night was the straw that broke the poor camels back. Last year was pretty bad, but this year surpassed 2013 with ease.

Channel 5 have managed to take the show not to the bottom of the barrel, but to the sticky, smelly sludge that seeps from the bottom of the barrel. To say the show stinks is an understatement. Channel 5 seem to have removed almost all of the interesting bits which first drew me to Big Brother and have either replaced them with sub-standard alternatives or done away with them all together. What we are left with is a tabloid friendly TOWIE/MIC influenced vacuous show, festooned with celebrity wannabes and people who are already somewhat known to the general public.

One of the elements which helped me understand the group dynamic and individual personalities more was being able to sit late eveining and watch them interact. Without this all I have is the highlights show, this means I am at the mercy of the editor and the cynic in me tends to think that the production team can influence me if they so wish, as it happens I think they do it to the viewers.

This year I became so fatigued by the constant arguments, which ran over days and weeks and never seemed to let up for more than a few minutes, surely they must have had some good, fun periods in there. It's not like they did not argue in 2013 because they did.

One of my particular hates has always been the introduction of new house-mates. They generally know too much and that imbalances the group, creates suspicion and ultimately if they don't integrate quickly enough they are nominated at the first opportunity. This segues neatly into another massive hate which the production team seem to have used with large brush strokes this year, and that is information from the outside world. I have lost count how many times they did it this year, even in the final week, ex-housemates were allowed in.

Tasks, now what is the point of them? If you fail a task then you are on basic rations. Not this year. Again the moment they were on basic rations we see a flurry of other opportunities to recieve treats and alcohol. I remember in years past the house-mates were really miserable when on basic rations and food seemed to play a much bigger role in the experience.

One of the big irritants is the public not been given much opportunity to vote out nominated house-mates. Even Emma alluded to it. What I want to see is a collection of house-mates nominated and then the public ousting the one they want out, no passes to the final, no twists where nominated house-mates are switched in and out based on some random production rule change or theme. And let's have a regular eviction which whittles down the house-mates, we can then see the dynamics change in the house as the weeks progress.

Yes readers, there is probably plenty more to add to my list but I think I have covered a fair bit which grinds my gears. So here we have it, my resignation from Big Brother, I'm leaving the building, heading toward the bright sunshine of a happier viewing future, one which makes me smile, leaves me warm inside and genrally satisfied. I shall sate my desire to communicate with my GGJJ friends by frequenting other threads during BB and look forward to spending more time in these threads; CDWM/FiaB, Great British Bake Off, What are you listening to, Footy thread, SCD, Corins Crib and one of the many other non-BB related threads that spring up from time to time.

Dear readers, the floor is yours... EC

The best BB related post I have read all summer.

I don't know whether you're on twitter, but I am going to send the link to this to BB.

Cinds

E.C. Brilliant post. I more or less feel the same, but, I am  not saying never again, because if just by chance it goes back to some of what it used to be, I may change my mind.

I did say quite a bit on twitter about how this years BB had gone to the dogs, (Helen being the biggest B**ch ever) I don't know if you are on there, but come and join us and you can get your point across to the people who run these things.

Me! After bully Conor got rewarded with 50k, I missed last year's BB in protest. Came back this year hoping for better... and bully Helen won!

They've made mugs out of the viewers
