I know the underbelly of Great Britain is shite I don't need a programe to tell me that; there are racial elements in this country
There are racist elements in every country. Britain has moved on a long, long way from the themes inspired by the movie this series is taken from. We don't like to be reminded of those dark days any more than you, as a German, would wish to be reminded of yours.

Pedestal. Get off it. Thanks.

Was just about to say exactly the same thing. Cologne, serious question. From what I have seen, you seem to dislike Britain and very rarely have anything positive to say about it. What enticed you here in the first place?

(And no I don't want an argument, I'm too tired. It's a genuine question and has no antagonistic intention)

I said on here the other day that racism, homophobia, transphobia and all other negative opinions regarding personal statuses will never die out. Global acceptance is a nice vision, and while I do believe there is much more acceptance than there was in the 70's and 80's, there will always be someone who doesn't like something. I also wonder how many people claim to be non-accepting of certain issues due to peer pressure or because that's what their family expect, but deep down don't agree, but would never admit it.

I think there's a hell of a lot of unhappy people on this planet.

How did we get from discussing the film to Germany?

Well that'll teach you

Still not seen the film.  I meant to last night, then got into watching something else I had taped and before I knew it, it was bed time

As it happens I have only just watched the first episode this afternoon.
I was quite looking forward to this having seen the film.

But so far I have been left underwhelmed. So what have we had. Kid screws up his exams, gets a bit bullied and a non wedding with an added heart attack. Not quite what I was expecting.

I think this could be a case of "milking the film". It's a little hard to see where this could go. I can understand the desire to develop the characters and in so doing create a story, but what you want from a first ep is to garner enthusiasm for continued viewing.

I will continue to watch as I have my fingers crossed that it will grow, but viewing a recording may have me watching with half an eye and the other on here !!!

Alas, I think your right, they should of left it alone. Still will watch the rest and hope it improves.

I couldn't see the point of it. Four episodes isn't long enough to get to know the characters, seeing as it's presented in a soap opera style (which I thought was a ridiculous idea anyway) instead of a film/documentary style which would have been more keeping in with the original film.

I don't even intend to watch any more of them, it was awful.
