You didn't hit any nerves, you just showed yourself up for being a bit of a, how can I put this?  "Sun" or "Daily Mail" reader type with a lot of silly, ill-informed received prejudices and assumptions.  Do you still insist that Peter Cook is a 1950s comedian?  BTW, who are these really funny modern-day comedians - Jim Davidson, perhaps?

Plenty of people lived through Thatcher, just like we have all lived through other PMs and they all have good and bad points, but to say you will be glad when someone is dead is just bang out of order, ... But like I said, this is a typical (and very tired and predictable) comment from a left-wing anti-establishment ranter who thinks it 'cool' to make comments like this...

And as for your comments in your post I have highlighted about how I 'come across to you...' or how I have supposedly 'showed myself;'  all I will say is 'pot kettle black,' because you know nothing whatsover about me but have drawn all *your* conclusions.   And the accusations about me appearing to be a 'daily mail reader' made me laugh so hard that I almost peed myself.  That is SUCH a totally predictable comment from very left wing people on message forums, and it always makes me laught....

And yes, it is actually confirmed that I did come close to the bone and hit a few raw nerves; especially with you.    Good day, and have a nice Easter break

Re Anitop's comments above me here..  I shan't even grace them with a response, because they are ALWAYS negative towards everything I say; and I know exactly why.    Bye bye.. I am going now.   Got packing to do.

Not really, I didn't come out with five paragraphs of unfounded assumptions and generalisations about what I imagine anti-monarchists to be.

I pointed out that Rupert Murdoch was anti-monarchist, and he's no friend of the left. I pointed out that there is strand of right wing opinion that strongly believes in meritocracy rather than privilege.

I pointed out that not liking Lady Ga Ga or S Club 7, describes most people over 12 years old.

I don't know where you got not liking valentine's day from.  I think that's unique to your mind.

I just think you've found things that you disagree with and assumed them to be the traits of anti-royalists.  I'm an anti-royalist, but I'm posting on a Big Brother site FCS!  It's hardly the "New Statesman"!

I've noticed your original post has gone down pretty badly.  I'm not surprised

No it really hasn't.    That is in your head my dear.  Most people seem amused by it, and/or agree with it....  You're seeing things that aren't there.  Nobody gives a shit about what I said: just you really.  :0)    you just WANT people to be pissed at me and side with YOU..   But it's just  not happening.

Toodle pipski!  I really really am going now because I shall miss my cab!  And keep imagining that most people are really angry with my post.  It doesn't make it true.....  byeeeeee

I shall watch the wedding and wish them, like any other young couple starting out together all the very best.  Hope all the parties go well for those that are getting into that kind of thing and that the sun shines.  It'll all be over come Saturday anyway.

Years ago, when me and two of my colleagues said that we like Princess Di, a couple of people at work slaughtered us, and told us why we should NOT like her, and that the Royal family were scum, and a waste of space and a waste of taxpayers money.... (THEIR opinion of course, and not a fact.)  Have to say, speaking from experience, that the 'Royal bashers' are always the same kind of people IMO: very left-wing, and totally 'anti-establishment,' and they hate ANYthing to do with the Royal family, and they can't do right for doing wrong in their eyes....  They are often the feminist 'grow your own food' and 'cook-from-scratch' type, who treat anyone that owns a microwave and gives their kids more than three mcdonalds a year, as appalling parents, and think people are thick scum if they read the Sun Newspaper...

They also hate Valentines and often anything romantic or 'soft,' and think that anyone who has an engagement ring that cost more than fifty quid is 'materislistic' and probably has no soul.....  And they also hate Christmas.... They refuse to buy anything for anyone for Christmas, because it's 'too commercialised,' (not thinking that you can still buy for people without spending a lot...!!! )  it just makes them feel 'cool' by saying Christmas is shit.  It's so anti-establishment you see, to hate Christmas, just like hating the Royal family is!

They also insist that the new millenium began at the start of 2001, JUST to go against the grain and the masses, and they hate celebrity magazines, and mainstream celebrities, and think people who read or look at those type if mags are brainless scum and chavs.  They would never admit to liking lady gaga or s club 7 or the A list Hollywood stars, only Joni Mitchell and Lou Reed, and French actors nobody has heard of, from obscure movies from the 1980s.... Also, they hate really funny modern-day comedians and say they are shit, and claim that old fashioned 1950s 'comedy' like Peter Cook and Spike Milligan is 'real' comedy.  They would NEVER shop in regular high street stores...and only go to farm shops and tiny little independent shops for their clothes and household goods.... And say people who DO shop in regular high street stores are brainless drones.....  And I re-iterate; they detest and pour scorn over anyone who doesn't follow their beliefs.  Sound like some people you may know/know of?    I certainly know a few people like this... Thinking they are cool and 'hip' by being so anti-establishment and slagging off the Royals!

Bleedin nora surely there's some sort of internet award available for that?

I think it's still a secret is it not?   I heard Bruce (or Mike ) was a contender but hot favourite was the lead designer at Alexander McQueen.   I suppose it just depends what you read.

I don't have anything the royal family really, but I'll not be doing the bunting.. but I daresay I'll be watching - mainly to see the outfits and dresses... but then again, whatever your views are I kinda feel it's still a bit of history in the making, so i want to see it 'live' I suppose.

I suppose some may be amused by your ability to write six paragraphs of uninformed claptrap, and if anyone agrees that Peter Cook is a 1950s comedian, then they're wallowing in their own ignorance, just like you.

Hahaha - my son has just come home from spending a few days in London with vising Americans. He has bought a royal wedding tea towel and two mugs. They are on display in the kitchen. We have the whole fam round for lunch tomorrow.

Hubby is soooooo mad, and keeps hiding them, we keep putting them back out.

Such fun

Dunno.. but given there's going to be a lot back views, he'd have done well to have a word with David Gest and got some of that hair thickener stuff....  He really got the rough end of the Windsor genes in the hair dept.

Kaffy he's really losing it isn't he?

Seems to be quite rapid aswell

Maybe it's the stress

According to a mag I read the line up is as follows:

Mark Austin

Geraint Vincent

Nina Hossain

James Mates

BBC:

Huw Edwards

Fiona Bruce

I think the final 3  for the Beeb make it a dead cert I'll be with ITV.
