The rest of the country has been so anti the games because it's London hosting them....so much bitterness and jealousy.

I don't get why that started, when the official start is not until Friday.

Personally, I am not really interested, but my mate who is a volunteer is on his way down from Yorkshire and is very excited.

In fact I saw on TV that Sheffield really pushed the boat out when the torch arrived in the city. They had massive events in the centre of the city, paraded Olympic hopefuls, gave civic receptions and the local BBC news station ran a programme live. I suppose Seb Coe having lived in the city and carried the torch helped.

So it would appear there is some support and excitement in the county of Yorkshire at least.

Maybe Meaty should clarify Fluffy, how are you presuming he meant Olympic organisers ???

If that were truly the case, NOTHING would be held outside London, but there's football in Wales and Scotland and Rowing in Plymouth.

And why would we in Scotland be bitter and Jealous? We're hosting the Commonwealth games in two years time. It may be a lesser event in KUDOS terms, but it's just as much of a logistics nightmare  and public upheaval.

And that^^^^ is what's causing the perceived bitterness. Their is an obvious "They're OUR games" London based faction, who at the same time are quite happy to have (even expect)the whole of the UK chipping in to pay the bill.

The security is a feckin'mess! My nieces friend is in a SCOTTISH! regiment.He's just back from 6 months in Afghanistan,his leave got cancelled and he has to go and fart about  as glorified bouncer in london.Their accommodation is basic etc.I fookin' hate that twat Seb Coe.
