I hate Sky with a passion!

They are the most customer unfriendly company I have the misfortune to deal with.

Unfortunately we don't have cable here...

you have to buy replacement remotes, despite subscribing to their services for decades (and they think that by making them available in argos... that this will brainwash us into thinking this is acceptable).

When our box broke down they tried to charge us an arm and a leg to come out and fix it.... fix it so we could continue paying for their programmes.

We did though....

I haven't had my new card yet..... but they can stick their insurance charge up their ahems..... if I have problems then I will go to Virgin Media!

Ring them back and complain bigtime. Tell them to cancel your account as you've been thinking of going to virgin media for a while, and todays prob's and bad customer service has helped make your mind up.

I can almost guarantee that they'll scrap the Β£65 charge for serviceman, scrap the Β£10.50 insurance charge and offer you 3-6mths half price rental or similar.

Just wait till you have to deal with Virgin Media's customer services department.

The first time you speak to Virgin they'll be on their best behaviour because they want your money, but once they've got it... You'll start to think that Sky are angels...

Really? Gutted!

At my last house I had NTL cable... they were fab, couldn't do enough for you... new remotes every couple of years... polite helpful speedy (free) service..... shame they don't have any cables laid in this area.

This is absolutely true, it happened to me a little while ago but you MUST ask for the cancellation dept - when you get them chances are you will be speaking to the same person!!!

And just to clarify, those of you who get the sky bloke to change your sky box, it will NOT be a new Sky Box. It will be an old reconditioned one.

Now I will try and calm down, anyone else had any similar problems?

Shows how ignorant I am, I thought that they wrote down the serial no. of the box you had and that they could tell (like from afar) if you were using a different box. I am a numpty Laugh

I had trouble with sky customer services, we switched to Virgin anyway and I've always found them to be very pleasant and very helpful.

I haven't had any trouble with the virgin telly side of things, but the modem died within 6 months. Although it took 5 days to get here, I didn't have any hassle getting it replaced, and they even said they would send an engineer out to sort it, if the modem hadn't arrived. So don't think their service (in that respect) was too bad.

Our card change was fine, had the on screen message to say it was on it's way and two days later it came, took the old one out, put the new one in and no problems at all.

Sky Customer Services have deteriorated lately though, at one time they were based in Scotland and the people there couldn't help you enough, phoned them a couple of months back with a payment query, got a lady I could barely understand, asked her to speak slowly as I am partially deaf and she kept on exactly the same!! Eventually I asked her if I may speak to someone else as I was very sorry but I just couldn't understand her and she disconnected me!

Rang back, got the same bloody woman and she said she had transferred my call, I said rubbish and I was sending Sky my BT bill (itemised) and they climbed down almost immediately and found someone I could understand.

I didn't know you could just buy Sky equipment, can someone PLEASE answer me this then, will my Sky card play in another box, if I changed to Sky+?

Feel sorry for the folk who are going to pay the Β£65 to get a serviceman out though. Bloody sky, took us five phone-calls to sort it. Mad

Makes you wonder if they can send a signal over the phone to cause a problem then ask you to join their insurance scheme etc; Crafty beggars. Big Grin
