Thank you El Loro.....I have been trying to change my Av for days now and just getting error. Me being me and that is useless with such things, I thought it was me

But it is quite delightful all the same

JPeg images working, but not GIFs

What is the difference between a JPEG and a GIF ?............I might have to continue to be a Daisy...

One takes up more space than the other. Megabytes and all that  One is more compressed than the other 

Oh, OK......(Don't really know what a JPEG or a GIF is).....I just go to Google Images.....

I google images..."Christmas animated avatars".....Right click ....save image as....

Drat.  You can't see my festive hat properly

How comes I can see the full picture when it's on my profile page but it's all wrong when I post on here???

It's frightening changing your identity innit? I feel a bit panicked ...............will I ever re discover my old identity? Will I be able to recognise my mates on here? Will they recognise me? Do we really know who we are?

When you are looking for a new picture for your avatar, to see if it is a GIF image or a JPEG image. before saving it, right click on the picture, click on View Image Info, then look at about half way down the result - under Location you get Type. This will show if it is a GIF Image (which won't work) or a JPEG image (which will work).

 

 Soozy.  I wasn`t sure about it at first but it`s growing on me.  It`s a still of my dancing kitty avi that your grandson likes. I might just keep it.  

We've fixed the issue, and now the fix has to be released to you. Not sure when that is, but my impression is that it won't be long.

Didnt have a problem. i went to Google images chose this one, saved it in "My Documents" Went to my profile, edited, then clicked on the blank pic, went to "My Pictures " , clicked on this, then added and saved .
Didnt work on Google Chrome, tho, had to go on IE

Skylark, your avatar is a JPEG image rather than a GIF image which is why you could upload it. Until Seattle rolls out the update we are still unable to upload GIF images. A nice Christmassy avatar you've got

Will change it probably , just tried to see if it would work  Thought it would be helpful for computer numpties like me..if you see what i mean! Hope others get sorted soon

The bug is fixed! You can now uploaded animated gifs as avatars.
