The Red Hot Chili Peppers are reportedly planning to sue Diana Vickers because her new song bares a resemblance to one of their hits.
The band are said to be angry that the chorus to
'My Wicked Heart' is similar to their 1992 song 'Under the Bridge'.
The former
X Factor star allegedly failed to request permission to sample the song, but recently
admitted that the similarity occurred after listening to 'Under the Bridge' during a recording session.
"That happened without even knowing!" she told
DS. "We had the song and it didn't have the 'My Wicked Heart' bit in it and then we put the vocal in and we were like, 'Why does it sound so familiar?'"
A source told
The Sun: "She has done herself no favours by revealing she listened to the track while writing 'My Wicked Heart'."
The report adds that record label chiefs want the issue resolved promptly ahead of the singer's
X Factor performance this weekend.
(The track ws on youtube, but it has been pulled.)
