Scott James insists he will be able to cope with the pressure of being on 'The X Factor'.
The 22-year-old - who wowed judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole with his performance of 'You Raise Me Up' on last night's show (20.09.09) - suffers from Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism, but says he will be able to deal with everything that comes with being on the talent show.
He said: "I thought I could cope - it wouldn't have been fair at all for someone to decide on my behalf that I couldn't take part because of my Asperger's.
"Simon Cowell and the producers have given me such support.
"Simon said to me, 'This is going to be difficult, can you handle it?' And I said, 'I'll certainly try. Thank you.'"
Because of his condition, Scott told how he was badly bullied and didn't leave the house for seven years, but is now determined to make a success of his life.
He said: "I'm proud to be autistic. I've met some incredible people with autism. I want to show that we can make a success of our lives."
