Twin the money
Jedward chase Joe to top X Factor earnings list
ÂĢ40k: Twins hit second spot
By Dan Wootton & Tom Latchem, 20/12/2009
TONE-DEAF X Factor twins Jedward are now earning MORE than all the finalists apart from winner Joe McElderry.
Incredibly John and Edward Grimes are way up there in a league table revealed by the News of the World - on a whacking ÂĢ40,000 a gig for just THREE songs!
Only series winner Joe - aged 18 just like the Irish duo - will do better, demanding ÂĢ50,000 a pop when bookings for him open in the New Year.
But there's a huge gap between the earning power of those two acts and the rest of the X Factor stars.
Despite being booted off the hit show three weeks before last Sunday's final Jedward pull in over FIVE TIMES more than runner-up Olly Murs and EIGHT TIMES more than third-placed Stacey Solomon.
Last night an influential music biz source revealed: "These figures prove this year's real sensations are Jedward. They'll end up making a truckload more than those others."
Our Top 12 X Factor 2009 pay-per-gig league reveals:
1. Joe McElderry - ÂĢ50,000.
2. Jedward - ÂĢ40,000.
3. Olly Murs - ÂĢ7,500.
4. Stacey Solomon - ÂĢ5,000.
5. Danyl Johnson - ÂĢ4,000.
6. Lloyd Daniels - ÂĢ3,000.
7. Jamie Afro-ÂĢ3,000.
8. Lucie Jones - ÂĢ3,000.
9. Miss Frank - ÂĢ2,250.
10. Rachel Adedeji - ÂĢ1,750.
11. Kandy Rain - ÂĢ1,750.
12. Rikki Loney - ÂĢ1,500
It's the quiffed-up Jedward brothers' flair for grabbing headlines and attention that's left rivals trailing in the cash stakes.
PAY SLIP: No 3 earner Olly
Our insider said: "The X Factor was all about Jedward this year. The winner is always looked after financially but there are no guarantees for second, third and fourth place.
"Jedward are in a plum position because they're being looked after by judge Louis Walsh who wants to make them a lot of money - and make sure they're in a position to keep making money in the future. He'll be closely monitoring their performances so that they don't become over-exposed."
But plans are underway that could see the pair making millions in 2010, enough to keep them in hair gel well into retirement.
They're in talks to play at a string of massive summer music spectaculars, including the BBC's Big Weekender and the V festival.
It is believed the cocky twins have even asked their management to approach the organisers of Glastonbury in the hope they can play there in June.
Successful festival appearances could net the twins up to ÂĢ60,000 a go, including income from lucrative merchandising stalls.
Our source said: "Festivals are massive business and the twins can do well on on that circuit. No festival wants to miss out on getting the hottest acts.
"The boys been speaking to a lot of very keen organisers and hope to tie up some big deals in the next couple of months.
"Everyone wants a piece of them at the moment."
Jedward also aim to record an album early next year and release it BEFORE Joe's debut album comes out.
TOP PAY: Joe's No 1
Our man in the know added: "They have to capitalise on their fame as soon as possible and beating Joe to the record shops would mean they get all the X Factor fans on board first.
"It'll also mean they have something else to flog at all those summer festivals.
"In 2010 they could make the fortune that will set them up for the rest of their lives."
Controversial contestant Danyl Johnson, 27 - who comes in at No 4 in the league on ÂĢ4,000 - has told friends he is booked up until APRIL.
This year the stars will also earn ÂĢ100,000 each for taking part in the nationwide X Factor arena tour - that's DOUBLE the pay of last year's finalists.
But they're being forced to work much harder, with the dates upped from 30 to 52.
Our source said: "The losing finalists could easily triple that amount - or more - over the next six months through money-spinning corporate performances and club gigs.
"It could mean the biggest paydays they'll ever get.
"There's nothing to stop them doing two or three appearances a day at the moment.
"Right now they're hot and they have to capitalise on that while they can."
