Walsh: It's The End Of The Road For Jedward

2:14pm UK, Wednesday November 18, 2009

Enda Brady, Sky News reporter

Irish twins John and Edward Grimes are living on borrowed time, according to their X Factor mentor Louis Walsh.

Twins

John and Edward Grimes have caused much controversy on this year's show

This weekend's show will feature the music of Wham!, with Jedward singing the hit I'm Your Man.

But Walsh fears their days in the show are numbered because the voting system means Ireland can't back the twins.

"This is it now, we are running out of time, it would be great if we could just make it through one more week," Walsh told Sky News Online.

"The boys have been home to Ireland to visit their family but the sad thing is that Ireland can't vote for them. Those votes would have been crucial.

"The theme this week has changed a few times, first it was Elton John, then it was The Beatles but now it's going to be George Michael and Wham!"

Jedward have made it to the final X Factor few despite criticism of their performances, but their mentor predicts one more upset before they get booted off.

"I think this weekend Lloyd should go, if it comes down to popularity anyway. But even if Jedward get knocked out, as far as I'm concerned it's job done."

second that They should get rid of Cheryl Cole instead and if they did get rid of Danni Minoque i hope they dont go and bring back the hideously vile Sharon Osbourne
I agree get rid of Cheryl. Dannii really is coming into her own as a judge she's the best on the panel she's fair, constructive, honest and fair she's also the most caring out of all of them so Simon would make a big mistake getting rid of her and it could backfire.....

Former X Factor contestant Jamie Archer – aka Jamie Afro – has said that he’s a massive fan of controversial twins John and Edward.

The rocker, who left the show after being in the bottom two on Sunday, said that he enjoys their performances, and that they are great guys.

He told stv.tv: “I’m a massive fan of John and Edward, I think they have every right to be in the competition, I think they have every right to be there.”

Jamie also praised the twins’ outlandish performances - which have seen them take to the stage in red PVC suits for a performance of Britney Spears’ Oops…I Did It Again, as well as singing the Ghostbusters theme tune, decked out in boiler suits.

He said: “All great music should be controversial, and it should be over the top and a bit crazy, and everyone should be talking about it.”

Jamie added: “The fact that John and Edward get such big productions I think that’s brilliant – The X Factor is a massive resource and if you want a big production they’ll give it to you. I personally didn’t feel I needed a big production because it’s not what I do.”

The rocker – who was knocked out on Sunday after performing Radio Ga Ga as part of Queen week, admitted that the show is no longer just about singing – and that the spectacle of the performances can have a lot to do with who impresses the audience.

Jamie continued: “It’s not the singing factor, it’s The X Factor, it’s a lot of different things…perhaps in the beginning, the first X Factor was more voice, but not now, I think people want to be entertained.”

What a strange theme...

Tell me about it, according to the papers Simon has been very undecided thats why we wasn't told on the Xtra Factor like we normally are, seems like his mind is made up now.

Johnson threatens to quit in furious row over Simon Cowell's song choices for him

Danyl Johnson [Pic:Rex Features)

Danyl Johnson sensationally  stormed out of X Factor rehearsals yesterday  after deciding that he hates the song chosen for him by Simon Cowell.

The drama teacher has  been given George Michael’s Praying for Time for Saturday night’s show. But during a coaching session with singing expert Yvie Burnett he erupted in fury and walked out.

Now Danyl, from Kent, is threatening to quit altogether unless Cowell agrees to change the song.

A shocked insider said: “He literally burst out the door and ran off down Battersea High Street.

“A few production staff chased after him to try to calm him down and make him come back but he was having none of it.

“They even sent a car to follow him and try to make him see sense and return but he refused.

“He seems very angry and upset and is demanding a different song. It’ll be interesting to see if Simon backs down or makes him stick with it.”

Danyl, 27, has struggled to win over X Factor fans because he comes across as smug and arrogant.

The self-confessed bisexual is desperate not to appear over-confident but insiders have grown increasingly exasperated by his petulant behaviour.

One said: “He’s not doing himself any favours with stunts like this which just make him look like a spoilt brat. Even if the song choice is wrong there’s no need to storm out, he should talk about it first.”

Cowell has already encountered a similar meltdown when he decided to change Jamie Archer’s song from Unchained Melody to Cry during movie week.

Cowell told the Mirror that their row was so heated he feared it would turn physical. He said:  “Jamie was so angry, at one point I thought he was going to punch me.”

Last night – after being AWOL for nearly five hours – Danyl was thought to be at the Sony BMG offices in London, where Cowell works, for crisis talks.

He is believed to have called the music mogul saying they had to talk – otherwise he would consider quitting.

It is thought Cowell may agree to change the song but Danyl will have to make a grovelling apology to the production crew he has upset with his rants.

A show source said: “Simon will never tolerate rudeness.”

The chances of it being someone remotely interesting are nil. Why not break with tradition and go with someone like The Smiths, Bowie, Beefheart or whatever instead of the same old songs every year?

There might not be a Wham week after all, according to rumours the theme has been changed again

They should get rid of the themes and let them choose their own songs every week
Can't see the point in the themes anyway, it only benefits a few of them, whats the point in that.

Well Stacey says she has hers sorted and it's great.

X Factor star Danyl Johnson wins row with Simon Cowell over song

Jamie Archer and Danyl Johnson [Pic:Splashnews.com)

Simon Cowell last night caved in to Danyl Johnson and changed his song for this week’s show.

The stroppy drama teacher had a hissy fit and stormed out of rehearsals when asked to sing George Michael’s Praying for Time.

But after crisis talks Cowell agreed he could perform the star’s classic hit Careless Whisper.

And the X Factor judge brushed off their row as a “storm in a teacup” blaming 27-year-old Danyl’s meltdown on the pressure of competing for the top prize. He said: “The frustration got to him and he boiled over but when we talked it through he was as good as gold.

“It was always going to be one of those two songs and it turns out Danyl had set his heart on the other one.

“Danyl is now going to sing Careless Whisper on Saturday and it is an incredible version. We love it.”

Danyl ran off down Battersea High Street in South London on Wednesday after a bust-up about the track.

Last week’s loser Jamie Archer, who also had arguments with Cowell over song choices, said he had a long chat with the contestant after his walkout.

He added: “Sometimes you have a  strong idea of what you want to do and it doesn’t match what the X Factor think is right. It can be very frustrating.

“It’s very high pressure, I don’t think anyone can ever understand what it’s truly like to be in that house.

“People will flare up from time to time. It is natural to think, ‘Oh my God, I need some time to myself’.”

A charity auction for two studio tickets to watch X Factor a week on Sunday have attracted bids of more than £10,000.

X FACTOR TWINS JOHN AND EDWARD FOUND BY U2 MUSIC MAN ROBERT STEPHENSON

ABOVE: X-Factor twins John and Edward found by music man who discovered U2
20th November 2009

By Katie Begley

Twins

X-FACTOR twins John and Edward Grimes were found by Roberst Stephenson who discovered Irish band U2.

Robert Stephenson predicts the twins will end up just as famous as megastars U2.

He gave the 18-year-olds a head start when they approached him six months ago during a battle of the bands competition in Dublin.

The twins sweet-talked their way into the venue for free before charming their way onto the judging panel then giving an impromptu performance.

Now Robert, 56, who helped raise the cash to bring Bono and his bandmates to London three decades ago, reckons Jedward could be the next big Irish stars.

He said: “They had a spark that reminded me of U2, the first band I was ever involved with, and which made me want to engage them.

“What strikes me is that my first impressions of Jedward and U2 were so similar.

“I didn’t think U2 was the best band in town but I remember taking them for drinks and being charmed by their youthful exuberance and naive honesty. It was the same with Jedward.”

Robert, founder of Blastbeat Education UK, which uses music to empower teens at inner-city London schools, says it is Jedward’s charm – not their voices – that will win people over .

He added: “There is a grand tradition in Ireland of people standing up in pubs and at weddings and spontaneously singing out of tune.

It was clear to me that they couldn’t sing but what came across that day was the sheer force of their personalities.”

But asked if they could win The X Factor, he said: “Probably not, but I won’t be surprised if they get to the final. Let’s face it, The X Factor is not a singing contest, it’s a soap opera.”

X FACTOR TWINS TO RELEASE SINGLE AND ALBUM WITH LEONA LEWIS MANAGEMENT

ABOVE: X Factor John and Edward are to team up with Leona Lewis' management
19th November 2009

By Nigel Pauley

X FACTOR twins, John and Edwards Grimes, are already planning their first single and album, we can exclusively reveal.

Twins

But the news has ramped up fans’ fears X Factor is being slanted in their favour.

The terrible twins will release a version of 5ive’s single Everybody Get Up. And a debut album will be recorded whatever happens to them on this week’s show.

But millions of X Factor viewers will be furious that John and Edward Grimes’ career path is mapped out after their tuneless performances looked certain to see them kicked off the show.

But after show boss Simon Cowell, 50, saved them earlier this month, the 18-year-olds’ mentor Louis Walsh, 57, let slip Jedward are with Modest Management, who guide Leona Lewis, 24, even though acts are not usually signed up until they are voted off.

A spokesman said: “I can’t comment – it’s speculation. All I can say is the boys will sign with Modest.”

Meanwhile fans can get revenge on Jedward in a computer game in which the pair try to hit stars with their quiffs – but if they miss they get impaled on spikes.

Well i've read that they have ALL the finalists signed up anyway with that company, yet again the papers slagging off John and Edward, they will all get something out of the show but it can't be denied the Twins are profitable and their charm has won some important people over.

XFactor has turned into a farce IMO   Jedward signed up for an album They can't sing-- choreograpy is a laugh   Top Musicians have slagged em off,if folk are willing to pay good money for computer enhanced sound of these 2 then so be it.

It is, because John and Edward really entertaining imo as where everytime I see the likes of Olly, Joe and Stacey who will be in the final I just want to go to sleep they're just not interesting enough and lack charisma, will the 3 of them be remembered like Leona or JLS?, don't think so.

I would go for a Joe win in that situation because I do like him after the pantomime villains/marmite people for this year Danyl Johnson and Jedward.

"Jedward are interesting in other ways. They have helped to establish the convention of combining names to signify a couple, as in Brangelina. If only this had been the norm when Posh Spice started dating David Beckham — what could have been more perfect than Peckham?"

I don't think you actually have to be able to sing to produce an album as long as your timbre is good.  The recording deck just brings it all back into tune.  A single album will probably make some money, if only for the novelty factor!  Hold on ... Novelty Factor!!!!  I ought to copyright that and sell the concept to Cash Cowell.  A Christmas One-Off show celebrating quirky acts.

Republic of Ireland can vote now through this website... http://www.irishvotes.com/ An Irish phone company called Swiftcall has set up a website that re-routes Irish votes through an exchange in London and into the main voting pool

Rhydian & Lucie having a cosy dinner.
-------------------

X FACTOR reject Lucie Jones has a new mega-quiff in her life after bidding farewell to the dreaded Jedward.

She covered up her locks with a winter hat as she met up with 2007 runner-up Rhydian Roberts and his strangely familiar hair.

Blond Welsh opera singer Rhyd, 26, treated his 18-year-old countrywoman to dinner at a posh London restaurant.

The pair later made tracks to Lucie's hotel - and it was a few hours before Rhydian emerged.

Maybe Lucie was checking out his arias...

Awww thats nice of Rhydian, he should have won his series. Lucie has lots of things going for her now.. so John and Edward have probably done her a favour in terms of interest of what she is doing because of the outrage of Simon's decision.

You're welcome Fairfax, it's about time and hopefully bad luck doesn't strike again.

Proof that Mariah Carey is the most ridiculous diva EVER!

Mariah Carey in London

When you already have the reputation of being one of the world's most demanding divas, surely there's hardly anywhere left to go in terms of ridiculous demands? Not if you're Mariah Carey... The big-haired and big-voiced star has been in the UK this past week as she promotes her new album and gears up for The X Factor, and her demands have now officially gone beyond the usual realms of mental. Arriving at the celebration party for her new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel at London nightclub Jalouse, Mariah not only had a white car with pictures of herself on the side, but she was also being escorted by not one but two specially designed phantoms, who were wrapped in her new Angel Champagne branding. Yes, she has champagne now, too – and it's the most expensive in the world, naturally. The diva's entourage consisted of – get this – two stylists, her own personal photographer, a personal DJ, a personal candle lighter (to ensure none of her scented candles went out during the night), bouncers by the handful, and of course about 20 other people who were just there. At Mariah's request, the venue was adorned with white roses, white and silver Hummingbird cup cakes and gold and black balloons. An entire area of Jalouse was redressed in thick white fur, including a cashmere white carpet for her party heels to walk on. On top of that she was served her Angel champagne by semi-naked male Angels, who were covered in gold paint and adorned with angels wings. Bleedin' heck! However, the guests – including Louis Walsh, Pixie Lott, Geri Halliwell and Kelly Brook – seemed to enjoy themselves. We'd like to live like Mariah Carey for just one day, wouldn't you? What do YOU think of the diva?
