It's a bit like the lottery, you have no idea what will come up next.

Don't know how the bookies feel about it, but there doesn't seem to be a good bet really.

I think the show is on self destruct at the Mo, it must be losing viewers, well, serious ones anyway, some must just be watching for a laugh.

I feel sorry for the competitors they have no idea what is happening, what the judges say can't be taken as real, they are just interested in their own act.

Think the program is finished now can't see anyone entering next year after this shambles.
Who would subject themselves to be made a laughing stock week in week out.

Simon Cowell and co only have themselves to blame. Jedward are having fun and people are actually picking up the phone for them to vote, from what i've read their fans don't presume they are safe and they always make sure they vote so it's at the moment enough to save them so far.

When Danyl ended up in there last week he had the second least amount of votes simple as although relieved he stayed

My thoughts exactly, hicky
You usually compare how well people are at doing something by them all doing the same thing.
When they are all singing different songs and probably ones that don't even suit them how are you supposed to judge.

When you trying to find the best swimmer they have a race but all swim the same stroke.

If all the girls sang the same song (a girls song) and all the boys sang the same one (for boys) then you could tell who could reach the required notes.

But when you get them all singing ridiculous songs it tells us nothing except the mentors have messed up again.

The only reason that they allowed the twins through was because Simon knew that they would be popular with the girls so he let them through to catch the votes for as long as possible.
Money in the bank and a talking point, and it sure has been, look at the column inches that they have generated, Wow.

Simon obviously had the final say, he knows they would generate publicity and controversy then he benefits through the voting = more cash so he's laughing all the way to the bank as usual. I don't think for a second it's only girls voting for them, they seem to have some doing it to wind up Simon or students or people do like them, mixed age groups.

Cowell knows what he is doing. Making money!
I have seen him in previous series do an about turn. He has loathed somebody in programme 1 and adored them in the final. He is inconsistent.
I also think he has proved he knows very little about singing and what makes a good singer. However, I do think he knows about making money - especially on the backs of gullible people.
I am not watching the programme this year it's too annoyingly contrived and set-up for my liking. Some of the spin is ridiculous. But I have checked a few of the clips on the internet, and it seems to me the standard is even lower this year.
But that doesn't seem to matter as long as Cowell creates "interest" (by fair means or foul) and makes himself a lot of money.

The fact that the boy who cant sing to save his life got through instead of the girl who sang ok, proves this show is a joke and a pantomime. I thought it was meant to be a singing programme?
And obviously its little girls who are buying JLS' songs, because there is no way they would make it in the US. And to think they are gonna be no.1. My god, music has gone down this decade and i blame this programme.

Discussing this with Mrs Crossy earlier. If it was down to ability they could give Danyl the prize now. However all the people watching have a different agenda, and different reasons for voting for different contestants. I'll say it for you Likeafire JLS are shieght.

It all depends on who is the most good looking contestant.
Brad Pitt could go on the show and he'd probably win it, whereas Bob Dylan would be the first out, or he'd probably be ridiculed like the twins have been with SC saying that he would never make it as a musician.

Yep Crossy i know, its only little girls who like them.

JLS are fab and I would rather have them at number 1 than Saint Cheryl

Well ive always thought that Man Utd fans are little girls  Id rather have them both sent to the US so they can fall flat on their face, because there is a reason they both havent made it there, mainly because they know what real talent is, when it comes to british music.

PMSL. Listening them beats having to see Alexandra Burke in Beyonce clone mode diva style, like Bad Boys though. Still theres always my other favs Diana and Ruth doing well it seems.

JLS are different they always seem very grateful for the opportunity and nice, where as Alex Burke seems very big headed but they've done better since not winning anyway.

Cowell: 'I have no regrets over JLS'

Cowell: 'I have no regrets over JLS'

Rex Features

Simon Cowell has insisted that he has no regrets over his decision not to snap up JLS at the end of last year's X Factor series.

The four-piece boyband signed up with Epic Records in January after Cowell decided not to offer them a contract with his own SyCo label. Both companies operate under the Sony Music Entertainment umbrella.

On last night's episode of The Xtra Factor, a caller asked Cowell whether he thinks he made the wrong choice after seeing the singers become a success in recent months.

The music mogul replied: "No. My company, we employ about 15 people. We had to make a decision based on how many acts we could cope with this year. But the company who I work with, Sony, had another label who wanted to sign the group. It's still within the same family."

Paying tribute to the band's commitment, he continued: "It's what it's all about. I hope they're an inspiration to other groups. If you give yourself time to form a group, give yourself a few months, you can audition for the show next year. It shows you what a good group can do on the show."

JLS became runners-up in The X Factor's 2008 series after competing against Alexandra Burke in the final.

Rachel has confirmed that Danyl was being nasty to Stacey by reading out to her the horrible things people were saying about her because she is on the show and isn't at home looking after her little boy.

Well that's Danyl off my Christmas card list.

Fancy being that horrible after she had told them that she didn;'t want to know what was being said as it upsets her.

I couldn't care less whether it is Lady Over-rated Gaga or Janet has-been Jackson on the show.  Agree that I would rather see the briliant JLS at number one rather than the talentless and over-rated Cheryl Cole.  (Who IS buying her CDs?!!!!!)  I just really don't get the Cheryl Cole hype at all.  I mean, what she actually ever done?

The wrong act definately went last week, as Rachel has been improving week after week, and Lloyd is totally pants.  He is this year's Leon Jackson; drab personality, no stage presence and a below-average out-of-tune singing voice.

IMO, most of the acts are crap this year and only Joe is worthy of winning now.  2 weeks ago, I would've said that Stacey is worthy of winning, but this past 2 weeks, she hasn't been brilliant, and Danyl has gotten worse too; (probably because of all the bad press though, because he is actually quite good.)  Not a big fan, but he doesn't deserve all the vitriol.  The guy with the afro (can't remember his name,) is OK, but I couldn't care less if I ever see him again.  Same with Olly.  They are both pub singers to me.

Lucie is fairly average and dull, and the 'rock chick' persona was laughable.  The performance of Sweet Child Of Mine was cringeworthy.  The judges must have been listening to and watching something different to me, because they seemed to think she was the next Avril Lavigne!    I thought the performance was bleedin' awful!

If Joe can't win, then I hope it's John and Edward, because the show is a bloody farce now; and I would love to see Mr Cowell's face if he had to sign them two!

Reference Crossy:
Without googling I have no idea who Avril Lavigne is.

Really?  I'm shocked.  I thought everyone had heard of her.  She's a really famous Canadian singer; around late 20s, she's had several big world tours, 3 successful albums, and about a dozen or more top ten hits in this past five or six years.  She writes her own songs and plays several musical instruments and is actually very talented.  Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but she is certainly a million times better than Lucie.  Lucie's rock chick persona was embarrassing, and although she is 'OK' and I have seen worse on X Factor, she is not brilliant and is not a 'star.'  JMHO of course, but I would not pay to see her.

Jedward 'as good as Kylie and Madonna', says Walsh

03/11/2009 - 10:40:33
‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh thinks John and Edward are as good as Madonna.

The Irishman – who mentors the spiky-haired twin singers – says he believes they could win the series because they are great entertainers like the ‘Celebration’ singer and Australian pop star Kylie Minogue.

He said: “I think the twins can win it. They’re not the best singers or dancers but they’re brilliant entertainers. Who cares whether they’re good singers or not? Madonna and Kylie aren’t the best singers either but, like the twins, they are great entertainers.”

The 57-year-old judge – whose other two acts, Kandy Rain and Miss Frank, have been voted out of the talent show – believes the boys are still in the competition because they are popular with children.

He explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Every kid in every family is rooting for them. The kids like them and their parents don’t and they can rebel against them by voting for them.

“Viewers just want to see them. It’s the act they are tuning in to see. Without them the show would be boring.

“I am genuinely glad I picked them. I knew it was a gamble, but it has paid off. They work harder than anyone. They are living their dream and people love them. They are the best part of the show.”

Meanwhile, the twins’ participation in the show has been branded a “set-up” by angry fans, after they auditioned twice in two cities.

One fan said: “It says on the ‘X Factor’ that John and Edward auditioned at Glasgow, but clearly in one video you can see they are auditioning in London. It’s a set up.”

However, ‘X Factor’ bosses have denied any favouritism.

A spokesperson said: “They did a pre-audition in London then were asked to audition for the judges. They were given the choice of Glasgow or London and couldn’t make London so they went to Glasgow.”

The twins are set to perform Ray Parker Jr’s theme from the film ‘Ghostbusters’ on Saturday’s movie-themed show.

Bloody hell Louis - who are you trying to kid? The twins are SHIT and you know they are!!
He's probably getting all Ireland to vote for them, and if they hadn't been Irish I don't think he would have let them through in the first place. He knew they couldn't sing.Poor Simon, imagine being lumbered with them and having to give them a contract, don't see how he could really.

Hickey just to let you know the Irish, that is Irish people from the Republic of Ireland CANNOT vote for the twins from Ireland. It is not possible. Any votes the twins receive are coming from the United Kingdom. And as for 'poor Simon, there is nothing poor about him and I would wager every penny I have that he has colluded with Louis Walsh in putting the twins through. Like them or not, they are raking in the viewers each week - more revenue for the coffers of Cowell
Fairfax
Just to confirm what Fairfax said.  ROI CANNOT vote in any of these reality shows.  They are quite happy to sell it to us and take advertising revenue.
Also it wasn't Louis that wanted to put the twins through.  It was the girls and in my opinion it was all a set up.

Simon is loving this.  The whole world is talking about X Factor because of the twins.  It's all part of the PR for the show.
It's ok for Simon to ridicule two kids to get the publicity he wants and couldn't dream of paying for.
Tayto.
