I didnt think popcorn and dead famous were similar.
I might give it another go CV. Popcorn was quite ahead of its time in terms of predicting reality TV so I got a bit impatient with Dead Famous.
No that's the one and it was really about the 'effects debate' but the final scenes of allowing TV viewers to choose if there is more violence by inviting them to turn their TVs off to avoid it but the ratings just go up was what I was thinking of.

it's been a long time since Ben Elton was on my radar.
I'm old enough to remember Friday/Saturday Night Live and his anti-Thatcher rants . And the one about the tabloid reporter in Dante's version of hell under Judas Iscariot looking up his arse.
I'm so glad I popped back in here (went off to the HL thread).
Used to love Friday/Saturday Night. It all seemed so fresh and new. In those days we set the video recorder (manually usually..!).
I fell in love with Stavros and his "Hullo everybody peeps".
Double standards Cowell.
Saying (rather pompously) to the Irish twins "Why are you talking in an American accent?"
Trying to put them down, I thought.
But hang on, Mr Cowell. Don`t the vast majority of the acts that you nurture and praise and make money from sing with American accents?
Yes they do.
Forked tongue Simon Cowell.
