My kids were so much better behaved than me.

Yes, they were Syd..... but then I think  as a general rule parents were stricter back then....

After watching the programme.....I think strict is best......you rebel, if you are lucky, and learn from your mistakes,  the family are still there for you............

I think parents (some not all) are frightened of saying "NO" to kids.....wanting to be friends not "parents" ...........

My parent's weren't strict at all and at the time I thought it was great!  I got up to alsorts while giving my parents the little angel routine which they bought because I'm the youngest and they thought I'd be learning by my siblings mistakes   To be fair though they always showed us we were well loved and maybe thought that by letting us away with so much they were proving their love.  I often tell my mum now that I had a brilliant childhood and teenage life because I wasn't having to fight them at every corner however I would have lliked them to be more strict as I got older as I think I did some things I would never have done had I had someone to fear (for want of a better word) at home.

I'm much stricter with my kids now.

I'm not proud, but not ashamed, glad my parents said "NO", ....I rebelled........but am glad they taught me right from wrong............even tho I tested them to find out for myself.....

I think what I am trying to say is............when I was a kid, I knew sweets were treats only to be eaten after I had eaten what my parents knew was good for me, I did'nt have a say in my basic dietary needs............ie.....I will only drink milk (Cos you say it is good for me) if it is pink and sweet.........

I get told a lot that I am VERY strict with my kid, BUT, from all that tell me that, I am the only one who has a kid with manners and who doesn't talk to their parents like they are crappoloa.

I don't care, my boy is lovely.  Ask anyone here that's met him.  Well apart from the rude ones that just blatantly ignored him, when he tried to introduce himself
