Back in late 1973 or early 1974 I went to see Don't Look Now at the local cinema. Those were the days where a supporting film was shown as part of a double bill. The supporting film was The Wicker Man which the distributors didn't think was good enough to be a main feature.

I thought The Wicker Man was outstanding and better than Don't Look Now.

The two films together must be strong contenders for the best double bill of all time.

I fondly remember the old double bills at the pictures where you could, if you wished, turn up for the first showings and sit right through both films twice

Just 'Googled' it.  I remember it now.  Another rather disturbing film.  What I didn't know was that it was adapted from a short story by Daphne Du Maurier

That's the one. There was a documentary about the director of Don't Look Now - Nicolas Roeg - on BBC4 last weekend.

Yeah - I missed that, unfortunately.

I agree with your earlier comments: both great films.
