Simon Cowell... I'd say Jessie J took abit of a shot at BGT/X Factor this evening though.

The claws are out.

Yogi19

just watched some of the clips on you tube.

much prefer the  voice to x factor, and i think they are all choosing jessie j because she is current, tom maybe a lege but he's old school.

i liked the  fat fella doing  adele, well not doing her in the biblical sense, singing set fire to the rain.

not keen on the girl singing jessies price tag  seemed alla bit squawky to me, probs nerves tho.

Agree with all that Aims... I was beginning to wonder why they bothered with Holly wotsit - she hardly did anything?

Liked the fact that the contestants got to pick a mentor too....

so far for the Voice from me.

agree with that too Syd - be better if they had screens or something and didn't know who else was buzzing.

It's much better than X Factor.. they're no total dross for a start.    They just need to lose the sob story element now and it'll be even more credible.      I think it might be a bit naive of them picking jessie because she's current tho (of course it might not...) but I think I'd rather have a producer like Will behind my career.   As for Tom - he may be old school, but he's still around, so he must have something - wonder if Jessie will still be working when she's his age.

i agree that tom has been  very successful over decades, and that proves longevity, but these hopefuls now want some thing more edgy  and again current.

I'm not saying she's better, lol, just that i can see why they chose her.

I can totally see why they's choose her over Tom... I just don't get why nobody's choosing Will with the funny parting.   He seems more of a safe bet in terms of shaping a career than someone who only made it herself in the past couple of years.. no matter how talented they may think she is.   As for Danny.. he seems a nice bloke, but I'm not quite sure why he's on there... not do most of the contestants by the look of it.

This show is ok, but no where near as good as the X Factor imo. Why did hardly anyone choose Will ? .... that surprised me tbh.

There were about 3 good acts that went through last night .... that was about it imo .... nothing startling. All in all quite disappointed but that was kinda how I expected it to be. Worth a watch if there is nothing better on.

The Voice averaged at 8.43m and peaked at 9.6m.

Britains Got Talent averaged at 9.43m and peaked at 10.93m  (blooming ITV sheep)

However its interesting to note that during the 20 minute overlap The Voice had 8.9m and BGT only had 6.71m *sniggers*

I'd hardly say BGT won

Rawky-Roo

Simon Cowell stage-manages every single part of BGT, you only see what he wants you to and he manipulates every bit of that show for maximum hype and cash.

I watched The Voice, but felt a bit let down by the screaming crying families backstage, and as others have said - the fact all the judges are together to give them a chance to collude.

Stripped back auditions, with no BACKING MUSIC and NO WHOOPING AUDIENCE is what I miss......but it looks like that won't ever happen again.

Not sure I'll be watching any more of The Voice! Maybe.

Katerina

I watched this on catch up and am trying to work out the 'maths.' So, have I got this right: the mentors can voice on interest towards as many acts as they wish, but then, can only be 'chosen' by a maximum of ten? (Who eventually go head:head in a public vote in pairs of their mentor's choosing, leaving each mentor with 5 acts who go through to the live shows.)

If that's right, then what happens when they've got their ten acts and there are still loads more acts to audition, (as is likely to happen with Jessie J the way things are going!) or conversely, when all/most of the acts have sung and the mentor doesn't have ten acts, (as is looking likely for Will I am and Danny!) Could Will and Danny get the pick of the crop of the later acts as Jessie and Tom played their hand too soon?

FM

I think they can have as many as they like, but then need to 'whittle' them down to 10 each before the next round... innit!

After the 'blind auditions' there's the Battle Round. One contestant, from each mentor, goes head to head in a 1v1 sing off. They sing the same song but take turns singing the lines, in a sense they have to out sing each other. I'm not actually sure how it works with who wins, as in if the public vote or the other judges.

After that I believe its the standard fair of live shows.... innit!

Ah, if that's the case then it should get interesting if the contestants know or get wind that Jessie J is so popular and Will and Danny aren't, strategically they'd stand a much better chance of getting through if they chose a less popular mentor

Just looked at the website, the 'coach' chooses who goes through to the live show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programme...k96j4/features/about
