Can't believe she is the bookies fav to win.
Can't believe she is the bookies fav to win.
Nor me, she seems popular on here 'though with everyone, (except me!)
She is hardly a 'new comer' she has had records deals and she has opened for Robert Plant and Dylan.
She is talented but she is not a current artist.
I struggle to understand the audience the BBC/Voice is trying to attract .
Exactly Erinp, I think her degree of success so far is exactly proportionate to her talent, (if anything probably exceeds it?) She can sing, but there are plenty of UK women on the folk circuit, (who aren't exactly spring chickens either,) who have far, far better voices imo and deserve recognition before her. Here's a few who immediately come to mind
I like Sally, and that's probably based on the fact that she can sing - i.e., she can hit the notes in the right key. I'm probably talking shite here (what's new? ), but I suppose my point is that she's a pleasure to listen to because her vocal talent is from within and natural rather than a forced or contrived in its style.
Still with me..?
I doubt she'll have a big career from being on this show - that horse has probably already bolted - but if it means that she gets regular work, then I think that in itself will be a result.
Frankly, I see her as someone who would do well as a permanent backing singer with the occasional vocal spot in a band like Jools Holland's or similar (for instance).
It works for the likes of Ruby Turner (she gigs with the band AND does a her own solo gigs too); there's no reason why it can't work for Sally....presuming that's what she'll accept from this recent exposure on The Voice.
The first of this weekâs Voice UK 2014 song choices have been revealed ahead of the semi-finals.
Last weekend we saw four acts leave to give us eight semi-finalists.
They are Jermain Jackman, Jamie Johnson, Sally Barker, Christina-Marie Wickens, Sophie-May Williams, Lee Glasson, Bizzi Dixon and Chris Royal.
This weekend the remaining contestants will be taking on two songs each: A solo performance as usual and a group song with their mentor and teammates.
Itâll then be over to the public to decide just which ONE act in each team stays in the competition and goes through to the grand final in the first week of April.

I am around at the moment and bathing, eating and ironing a shirt so may drop in the odd comment.

I like Sally, but I'm not liking what she's doing to this song... it's just wrong...

Hi Kaffs.
Wrong song choice for Sally, imo.

I agree. I think some covers being rearranged work, that was not good for me.
So we're all agreed on the wrong song/arrangement then
She's still shaking Emma !!! NO leave Emma alone.
I don't think that dress does anything for Emma either, while I'm in critical mode...

I agree again, it does nothing for her.
