The new series of Only Connect starts tonight BBC4 at 8.30. Same format as the previous series.

8 teams in the first round of 4 matches. The 4 winners go through to the second round.

The 4 losers have another chance against another loser, the 2 winners go through to the second round, the 2 losers are eliminated.

So 6 teams go through to round 2. The 4 winners who won without losing play another outright winner. The 2 winners go through to the semi-finals. The 2 losers plus the 2 winners who had lost 1 first round match but won the 2nd first round match play another match and the 2 winners also go through to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals and finals are straight knockout matches.

Victoria Coren Mitchell doesn't understand this new process so what chance do we

Anyone seen it?

Yeah...

All I'll say is: thank goodness it wasn't just me...

Sounds like The Sweeney of the 70's

And that was exactly how it was!

It was! Crossed with The Hustle imo. I'm really enjoying it.

I've also just discovered I can get the Universal Channel (Virgin Media 137). Graceland might be worth a look. (I don't think it has anything to do with Elvis). Premiss is a group of undercover agents from various US law enforcement agencies live together in a beach house. Mike Warren is assigned to the house as his first FBI job. Pilot episode tonight.

You love the young Montalbano ...so do I .I'm catching up on how he met Livia and MImi  the older one Is far more to my taste though he has these sort of bandy legs ,which I find rather attractive and a bald head ..I've taped most of them ..and the house near the beach I love ...I'm hoping this leads on to another series ...always watch BBC4 Saturdays ,they used to repeat mid-week but seem to have stopped

Thanks for that Eugene... the way it's repeated has made me lose track of the series.

Several heads-up:

1) It's the Only Connect: Children in Need Special at 8.30pm tonight (Monday) on BBC4! Claire Balding, Clive Anderson and Simon Jenkins vs Alice Arnold, Konnie Huq and John Finnermore.

2) I've already mentioned it elsewhere, but it's also the final episode of Under the Dome tonight at 10pm on C5.

3) The 3rd and final series of Borgen starts on Saturday (I'll post again on this closer to the date).

Oooh brilliant, thanks Bazzer

I really enjoy those shows... this should be interesting. I recently read Wolf Hall and Bring Up the bodies which contain fascinating descriptions of the foods in Tudor times.
