I've been watching other stuff and have assembled a rather long list of catch-up to do. So tonight I've caught up on a series named 'The Almighty Johnsons'. (Pay attention now Kaffers.)

The premise is there are four brothers who are Norse gods living in New Zealand in the present. They are trying to make an honest living and not be noticed.

It's rather like 'Being Human' but with a lot more comedy.

New series starts on Syfy tonight at 10pm I think.

  I missed this

Aww. Never mind. It's still on.  If you get Syfy then catch it when you can. It's easy and fun.

Me too Xochi. I wish I had a way of recording it as it is worth a second viewing.

I'm enjoying the human aspect to this programme. I'm a big fan of architecture programmes, but this is great the way the workers can trace their families back through the building of New Yorks iconic architecture.

And the time lapse film is fascinating and beautiful too. Very arty.

It is completely and utterly my kind of programme, really enjoying it (if you can use the word enjoy given the events preceeding). Yes, time-lapse is a great way to show progress.

I like that BBC Three tries new comedy, but they also should know when to ditch the rubbish. If this gets a second series I will be very surprised indeed.

I don't know quite what to make of Badults, it's like a new "The Young Ones".  It is fairly rubbish but I like it and think it could be better with a few tweaks!  I too will be surprised if it gets a second series.  But then, I quite liked the incredibly puerile, "Coming of Age" and that was considered by many as the work of the devil!

For some strange reason I quite liked Coming of Age too. I still can't put my finger on why because as you say it's rather puerile!

Edit: Just Googled who wrote it and it's by a guy called Tim Dawson. Apparently he wrote it whist still a teenager. He also wrote for Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

Oooh..thanks Xochers   *waits for list*

I can't work out how to just post the video  - but there's a link here (I saw that last week)  but there was a proper 'coming soon' trailer on the tellybox a couple of days ago.  I think it's early October, but they've not given a date yet.  They're making Season 2 available 'on demand' for a while before it starts.

You beat me to it: the gossip surrounding it has been very good and it looks interesting. Be warned that they're starting with a double-bill...

I'm off to watch right now!

It is Kaffers... a bit too much going on in the first ep but a great concept and when I read the comments in the Guardian link ^^^ it is clear its worth watching a few more before you decide.

May feel a bit too yoof tv at first but I already suspect there is a reason why it isn't.

Recording was a good idea: there's a lot going on there.

The central premise is very strong and intriguing, Some of the supporting performances are a bit weak, but as it progresses and you think about how they actually filmed some of the scenes, you realise just how impressive Tatiana Maslany is in it.

I'll be sticking with it.

I didn't see the first season EC, but I heard so many people raving about it (supes and GJ on here for example) that I watched it when it was repeated prior to the showing of Season 2.   It's not something I'd think of watching normally - but I was hooked from the first episode.  Brilliant show.

Supes - thanks for that trailer... can't wait for it to start again!

As part of my job I had to view the contents of a drive which had loads of episodes on, I had them all on fast forward so I still don't know hardly anything about it except it looks like some of it is set in the Middle East. So it's not an American Cop show.

I'm not sure I will get round to watching it either as I have way too many other things to catch up on.

Still my favourite thing that's been on the box for years

Better than 24 or The Sopranos or even The Hoobs?

Now you're being silly... nothing's going to beat The Hoobs.

I loved the Sopranos (although I didn't see the later series because they weren't available on my tellybox... I never saw any of 24.    How can I explain how good Homeland is.... if I had to choose between no more Dr Who and no more Homeland..... I don't think I could.

For me Doctor Who has been in decline for years, hated the last Doctor (but very hopeful for the new one - as long as he gets some good stories). So not a benchmark I can use.

I've just looked up Homeland on blu-ray and it's soooooo expensive!

May try looking on line to see if there are some "sample episodes" I can try out.

I guess you know I already have that set to record too huh?

Yep!  I told you there is a wealth of tv goods coming up. Glad you're gonna stick with Orphan Black too.

Co-created and written by Tony Jordan (who previously did Hustle and Life on Mars. Stars Warren Brown (late of Luther), Shelley Conn (who was in Terra Nova) and Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval). Shadowy organisation entraps criminals who have managed to bypass conventional law and order procedures. Good escapist entertainment.
