I've got that set to record - looks quite good.

I've also got Big Brother on series link now

I've read the same highly rated reviews of 'The Americans". Starting on ITV in 5... 4....

I'm watching recorded 'Frankie' atm - give me a thumbs up if it's Xochi!

Meant to post a heads-up about this myself, but forgot...

I don't know about "astounding": the reviews in the States seem to have been generally pretty good, but there were a few who thought it would have been better done as a mini-series. (Series 1's US run finished at the beginning of May, and a second series has been commissioned.)

Personally, I thought it looked really promising. Like "The Sopranos", it's one of those series that makes you sympathise with "the bad guy", which is always interesting, and the opportunity to re-examine the Reagan years (the series is set in 1981) has potential too.

First episode is definitely very  for the large part but I think it will build into something interesting Kaffs. Many echoes of Homeland which can't be bad!

Why, Kaffy?

I was feeling petulant because I didn't get the ending I'd have wanted.   On the plus side - it leaves it open for another series

Ah, right!

I agree that it left things open for another series, but somehow I can't see Jackson Brodie every really having his own happy endings - after all, he's a Country music fan!

I just caught this trailer on C4    - not sure if it'll be too scary for me, being such a wimp.   Looks like it might be interesting.   Billed as a 'supernatural crime thriller'   It's in French with subtitles.   Sunday at 9 p.m.

In a small mountain community, two local people - teenager Camille, and Simon - who both died years earlier, suddenly re-appear at their homes. They have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own deaths.

Camille and Simon assume they can rejoin the world of the living as though nothing has happened, but their return throws their friends and family into a state of turmoil.

Camille's sister LÃĐna has continued to grow up without her sibling beside her, and Simon's wife AdÃĻle is just about to get remarried, to Thomas. Meanwhile, lonely nurse Julie receives a visit from a very strange little boy.

Seven years ago, the town was struck by a series of bloody murders. Now it seems the killings have started up again. In French with English subtitles.

sorry

Beat me to both of these...

I enjoyed "The Time Traveller's Guide" too: second part on Friday, and am particularly looking forward to next week's episode which is about Shakespeare and the middle classes.

"The Returned" has already been covered on the BBC "Review" show: it's had really good reviews in France and looks interesting. On the face of it, it sounds like "In the Flesh", but appears to be more classic horror than allegory.

I watched Love and Marriage as Alison Stedman is in it - have seen her in lots of things but have always remembered her in Abigail's party years ago, brilliant.

I had a problem staying with it tonight for most of it and several times thought about trying to find something else, but, I stayed with it and towards the end it picked up. I'll probably watch next week now.

I recorded it because the trailers looked good. Should I not bother watching it?
