I think it's a wake up call for anyone who does let their collecting and or hoarding build. Feeling kinda sorry for this lady.

I might feel guilty about the stuff I put up the loft today. Mr Yogi thinks it went to the tip.

I'm not a serious hoarder though, I don't like mess and clutter all around me.

Me neither Yogi..My husband is though..... but I have managed to restrict him to the garage..... which if full from top to bottom......and I always tell him that if anything happens to me I can see him becoming one of these people on the TV

Garage Joe is the forum jam and preserve expert, you'd be best asking him.

The question is not about me, but what we are watching. I too have a cut off period and it depends on what the constituent parts are - I never mess with dairy or fish, but sugars, say honey , well that's a whole different kettle of fish.

Aww. I think it is one of those things which can get out of hand. As long as he contains it in the garage, it's not such a big problem.

Sorry, I'm not watching the programme and thought you'd found a jar of marmalade at the back of a cupboard.

i agree with you about dairy and fish, too dodgy to mess around with - if in doubt, throw it out!

Since you ask. All my jam jars have the metallic button. As long as everything is clean and sterile when the hot confiture is added then all should be well since as the material cools it contracts and sucks in the lid. If air ever gets in then mould will develop. My oldest jar of marmalade is only about six years old and I kept it purely to see how it would last. I use less sugar than advised so I'm quite sure that bought ones might last 15 years. I didn't see the prog concerned due to Scott and Bailey on catchup, and that politician one.

I mentioned this first time round, but BBC2 are repeating the excellent "The Challenger" tonight at 8pm. It's a dramatised documentary of Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman's investigation into the Challenger space shuttle disaster, and stars William Hurt.

It's being repeated tonight because yesterday would have been Feynman's 95th Birthday. The drama is followed at 9.30pm by a "straight" documentary: "The Fantastic Mr Feynman".
