I'm not sure if 'enjoyed' is the right word.  I'm gripped but it's uncomfortable viewing.  It's the last episode next week and I'm anticipating a few shocks along the way; it's not going to be happy ever after for any of them, imo.

I'm anticipating a twist - I think it's clear that Poppy stabbed him once but .......apparently there were eleven stab wounds - I think that elusive ex girlfriend may have had something to do with it.

BBC 2  9PM MONDAY 29th April:  Dave Allen: God's Own Comedian.

'A look at the life, career and legacy of the Irish writer and performer'

...and I would be interested in the Dave Allen programme. Liked his comedy.

I'm at a disadvantage in that I haven't been following it (which was probably a correct decision, as I think I'd have found it too depressing), but that's definitely how it was advertised,

This is from an interview with Peter Moffat in the Radio Times, 30th March:

"The series opens in 1914 with the arrival of the first bus in the village. [..] The ambition is that the series will end 100 years and 42 episodes later. The idea is to tell the big stories of the century through the small lives of the people in this single village.

[..]

I wanted to start in 1914 because it's the furthest back in time one can go while still being just within living memory. There are a few people still alive now who have memories of that time. Our narrator and central character is Bert Middleton, the second oldest man in Britain. We see him now (a very old man) and we see him then (a young boy). His job as narrator is the last thing he'll do; it's his last great act of remembrance."

Thanks Eugene - I was beginning to wonder if I'd just imagined it!    There's only six episodes in this series, so looks like they'll cover the same few years during a series.

chin up - only one more this time.   Maybe the next series will be more lighthearted!    When did they invent Viagra... that'll put a smile on the shopkeeper's face.

Don't ask me, I've got a stiff neck.

ah... the old ones are the best.

Serena's mum obviously knows a lot more,  unlike her sister
