I'll be interested in watching that, thanks EC
I really enjoyed ICE CREAM GIRLS tonight - I prefer it to Broadchurch and Lightfields - love the setting - love the era. Good stuff.
I enjoyed it to
I'm not sure if 'enjoyed' is the right word. I'm gripped but it's uncomfortable viewing. It's the last episode next week and I'm anticipating a few shocks along the way; it's not going to be happy ever after for any of them, imo.
I'll be interested in watching that, thanks EC
Me too

I'm anticipating a twist - I think it's clear that Poppy stabbed him once but .......apparently there were eleven stab wounds - I think that elusive ex girlfriend may have had something to do with it.

The Village
The Village
I know..!
The Village
me too
The Village isn't what I thought it was going to be - I'm sure I read somewhere it was about the Village over the course of Bert's life.
The Village
me too
and me
Me too Kaffers. DS said today that it is coming back for a second series.
I don't know if I will be able to sleep
And now I have just seen the trailer for next week and it has confirmed my worst fears ... I was hoping against hope

I'm at a disadvantage in that I haven't been following it (which was probably a correct decision, as I think I'd have found it too depressing), but that's definitely how it was advertised,
This is from an interview with Peter Moffat in the Radio Times, 30th March:
"The series opens in 1914 with the arrival of the first bus in the village. [..] The ambition is that the series will end 100 years and 42 episodes later. The idea is to tell the big stories of the century through the small lives of the people in this single village.
[..]
I wanted to start in 1914 because it's the furthest back in time one can go while still being just within living memory. There are a few people still alive now who have memories of that time. Our narrator and central character is Bert Middleton, the second oldest man in Britain. We see him now (a very old man) and we see him then (a young boy). His job as narrator is the last thing he'll do; it's his last great act of remembrance."
The Village isn't what I thought it was going to be - I'm sure I read somewhere it was about the Village over the course of Bert's life.
I gave up on it....it was too bleak for me.....
Cheers Eugene
it is bleak Baz, but it's damn good

Thanks Eugene - I was beginning to wonder if I'd just imagined it! There's only six episodes in this series, so looks like they'll cover the same few years during a series.
I can't take 42 episodes of bleakness though!
I can't take 42 episodes of bleakness though!
It could have been even worse, though: until I read that article, I'd thought they were going to do one episode for each year of Bert's life!

chin up - only one more this time. Maybe the next series will be more lighthearted! When did they invent Viagra... that'll put a smile on the shopkeeper's face.

Don't ask me, I've got a stiff neck.

That would've been a laugh a minute....

Tell that to The Beliebers
Yeah: the "Heimat" similarities occurred to me too...
They're making it up

I agree, Cosi. I'll stick with it until next week but I don't think I'll watch the next series.
