If the picture was much larger than it appears here, then two things I do is to:

Make sure the picture you are uploading is not resized (you will see the message at the point you are uploading "do not resize my image".

Also I select "Direct Link" from the options presented once the picture is uploaded. It is usually the second option down.

The picture below has an original size of 900x1273
