But surely in a bold salute to bricolage, the meaning is changed.
That sounds like a lavatorial connotation.
Mine is always sparkling.

I think I would be a bit concerned about it being a bad omen.Reference:

I understand the sentiment behind it ,but she should have had her own ring .Di's ring is a bad omen.

I agree erin.
I don't like that ring anyway. I remember, even as a kid, when we first saw Diana with it, thinking "oh... I don't like it!"
and yeah... if (and its a huge if ) Wills had proposed to me... and then presented me with "that" ring... I would have been running out of the room screaming!

I loved it - I was only 11 and my gran bought me a cheap replica.
dunno why I didn't like it... I must have been about 11 too .. what year did they get engaged?
I was a bit gutted when I saw her wedding dress as well!

It was 1981 wasn't it - actually I would only have been 10 as it was early on in that year..
Her wedding dress was bloody awful - looked a few sizes too big if I remember.
I dont think the Emmanuels ever worked again.

it was hanging off her.... a big pile of creased shiny satiny stuff... all that hype about the dress and when we saw it... all crowded round the telly... everyone was ...
"oh"
I think my Mum even said "it needs a bloody good iron"
I too see that ring as a bad omen, and yet they have been together fro 8/9 years.

When you think about it - it's a hell of a role to be taking on isn't it?
For all the wealth in the world I wouldn't want to say goodbye to my freedom for a life of scrutiny.

I couldn't do it either. I wouldn't be able to hack it at all. I just know that I would end up going down the 'Duchess of York' route... getting caught on camera doing something... a bit dodge (although most definitely NOT toe related... eurgghh)... I'd be stressed to the max if I was Kates mum as well... it would be like watching your child in the big brother house.... just waiting for the nation to hate your baby!
When they said it was gonna be held next summer my first thought was, 'St. Pauls on the same day that his mum and dad got hitched'. Wouldn't surprise me! Although it's worth remembering that Diana and Charles had only been together 28 days or some madness like that when they got engaged, they didn't live together and she was still a virgin (allegedly).
I'd say that was more than a recipe for disaster. Plus old Shergar face Camilla was having the hows yer farver with Charles all the while, so why Diana went ahead with it I don't know.
At least these 2 have done it the normal, modern way and have lived together for ages, hymens no longer intact, yada yada yada...
And I just said in another thread I think that engagement ring is ming I'd have done my nut if I got presented with that as a token of love

If you believe all the stories about her deliberately going to the same university and on the same course to 'snare' PW and then 'waiting' for 7 or so years for him to propose, she deserves something for all that effort Reference:

really? If that is true then... wow! Would have to respect that kind of focus...
I thought I was fairly determined if I arranged to go to the same pub as some bloke I fancied!

I wish I could think of a scenario where she isn't torn apart... but it almost seems inevitable.Aww... I feel all protective of her now!
Wonder if I will look back on that statement and want to chew my own hand off! I hope she stays as she is... that it doesn't totally go to her head etc...
I haven't disliked any of the Royals for years now. (some of that is me getting older though I think... the Prince Philip appreciation is DEFINITELY me getting older... the older I get, the funnier I find him!)
Was a bit surprised when I saw PH on the telly today... he's not as attractive as he used to be.. starting to look much more like his Dad.

If you're gonna give a ring from your family then surely it should be a sign of eternal love. Not a sham of a marriage that only lasted until some heirs were born.
