Has anyone watched this?  I'd heard lots of great reviews about it and loads of people recommended it so I started watching it.  I'm on the 5th Season now and have to say......I don't get all the fuss!!  It;s verrrry slow moving, nothing major has happened and in all honesty I think Tony is a laughable head of 'The Family'.

What did you think of it and does the ending do it all justice?

ooooh Ells I did a thread about the ending of the Sopranos a few weeks ago (might have been more than a few weeks, but lets say recently).

I loved the Sopranos, I didn't watch it first time around, but got in to it when they started running it from the start on Sky Atlantic, me and Mr loved it so much we loaned the box set off a mate and ended up back to backing watching them as we couldn't wait (we both said had we had to wait week on week we would have lost interest).

The ending is quite confusing, but when you have the links from our friends here to read about it, it's actually very clever, and me explaining it to die hard Soprano fans, has devastated them

Oooh good job I didn't see the thread Cinds but will look it up when I see the ending.  I'm just not getting the appeal of it at all.  I'm watching back to back aswell and it just seems like nothing exciting ever happens maybe I'm hard to please!  Although I started watching it after watching all of Prison Break, Dexter and 24 so it's got a lot to live up to!

Cupcake.....not sure I'd recommend it at all but as you can see, other people seem to love it!

Its reputation was made by the early series which were often described as "Shakespearean" because of the plotting between the family members, and particularly between Tony and his mother.

There's a famous story Brian Blessed tells about the making of "I Claudius": when they started rehearsals, all of the main actors were having difficulty getting a handle on their characters and the general tone of the show. In desperation, Blessed mentioned this to the scriptwriter, who replied "Oh yes, I had that problem too. Then I just thought of the ruling family as being like the
Mafia". Bingo: Blessed and the other actors made the same connection, and away they went...

Well, "The Sopranos" effectively does the reverse: the infighting of a ruling family of ancient Rome is transferred to New Jersey mafiosi. There's a reason why Tony's mother is called "Livia" - it was the name of the wife of the Emperor Augustus, who was the main plotter in "I Claudius"...
