Seeing as you have never tried it, I am interested to see what you think. Do you like a wide variety of cheeses already?

Um... mature cheddar, parmesan and blue cheese... thats it. I'm not a cheese connoisseur EC

Rogie, or Roser, or whoever you are...

From your list of cheeses I can tell you are like me... stronger cheese the better. Therefore, do NOT mess with Feta cheese. To me it tastes rubbery and, in fact, tasteless. But if you are determined to experiment go to a deli counter and ask to taste some before you commit!

Ahh thanks for that Xochi Feta's maybe not for me. Oh and I like camembert too... all the stinky ones.

You can call me what you like  I got tired of the old name, made me sound like a gossipy oul biddy.

Ooo! Maybe that was my problem! Thanks Carport! Having said that, as a veteran cheesophile, I also really can't get my palate around goat's cheese too. Please advise me Marge!

Yep! I think you will struggle with those sort of cheeses then luv. Experiment with more blue cheeses as they work just as well in salads... I love 'em, from wherever they derive.

Will be grating carrot and popping some sliced mushrooms into my next salad for a change.

Here we go: rocket or italian salad, cherry toms, sundried toms, stilton or gorganzola, spring onions, avos, eggs, parsley/coriander and a dressing with parmesan.

Hi Velvet. I can't do the cheeses as I am not a fan of them. But had eggs in my last salad. Been buying those really large bulbed spring onions (my Tesco calls them salad onions) they are great. I love cherry toms - eat them like sweets. I've not gone down the herb route, but that is a good idea for a nice change/twist. I can do a small amount of parmesan. When I can get them I will pop in some freshly podded peas.

Wasn't that kind of dinner. Him, his wife/girlfriend, my sister and me. It was just a 'friendly chat' type dinner.

I love salads, the best one I ever had was on holiday in Portugal some years ago. I loved it so much I remember searching in my bag for paper and pen to write down the ingredients. I've often wished I'd kept that piece of paper so I could make the exact same one. All I can remember is it had some fruit mixed with some of the usual salad ingredients but I just can't remember the exact combination.

Re: Cheese

Feta - is lovely in a greek feta salad...     haloumi..   is crap!   its rubbery tasteless overpriced crap!

but..  I can eat it...  its just not that exciting.

I lurve cheese..   my fave being Camembert (so ripe its pretty much liquid)..   and gorgonzola.

Sooo..  I thought I would like goats cheese.    but I really don't!   It has an unpleasant "funky" aftertaste to it.     The little ones that look like little cambenberts look like I should like them..   til you cut into them and the insides are grey!

I have tried & tried & tried..   but come to the conclusion I am not that keen on goats cheese & its funky aftertaste

Why?

Just because. Bad digestive issues of late.

Sometimes fish (no matter how fresh and lovely) leaves an unpleasant after taste and I feel a bit icky - it doesn't always happen and I've really no idea why.

Greek salad is yumtious   Have you tried the feta yet..?

Got feta in my delivery this morning Cosmo   Googled Greek salad recipes and I have all the ingredients except olives and olive oil.

Great salad ideas in here. Another lovely addition is freshly cut chives - I get em straight from the pots on my windowsill. After you cut them they grow back quickly.

What dressings do peeps here like? I'm quite common and like salad cream  or mayo with balsamic vinegar if I feel posh.
