I managed to avoid the whole lot of it and went shopping instead.  Unfortunatly (sp) when I got back and had a look at facebook there were step by step accounts of every bliddy movement of the wedding as all my English friends were commenting A LOT.  (Sorry if any of you are reading this but geeziz that was overkill!)  So curriosity got the better of me and I had a peek at the pics online.  She looked lovely.  Good luck to them.

Did they have Super Injunctions in those days?

Wouldn't the Nazi's just have ignored it and frog-marched him off anyway?

Her McQueen dress was bloody amazing. Absolutely loved it. Her sister looked bloody fab, too. The mother looked smug. As for the blue blooded lot; #Grand National #miserable horsies

Apparently that whole thing cost around 70 million quid. I didn't particularly feel any pride at being British knowing the cost and who would be paying for it when this country is in the shits financially. If the Queen had covered the bill or even financed the majority of it that would have helped and I feel would have more than apt given the current climate. Very happy for Kate and Wills, they looked genuinely happy, but as for the realities of the whole thing, meh.

the queen has covered the cost of the wedding, we're paying for the cost of security on the day (around 20million quid).

Oh has she?! Didn't know that! Ok, I take back what I said about the old banana looking misery guts, good for her. About time she opened her purse. Well as long as the revenue generated at least doubled that of the 20 million cost then jobs a goodun. Dress and tiara of the bride 10/10. Dress of the other bird (the sister) 10/10. The vows were lovely.

But alas, I still have something to whinge about! Those friggin hymns. HOW long did they go on for? And why did the Windsors look so bloody miserable? If you saw Andrew's face when the pair were at the aisle he looked like he wanted to rip someone's head off. I know they're traditionally a poker faced bunch but a few smiles through the service would have been nice. And who told the panto royal Beatrice to wear that hat? It looked like she'd nicked a bit of someone's gate and sprayed it gold. Awful piece of attire

Fashion and how many smiles verdict: Middletons outshone the Windsors, with mother Middleton winning the prize for most smug.

well 3 of the windsors there have done all this before only to see their big days go pear shaped. so there must have been a wiff of regret on those pews.

We did wonder that funny enough. But it was Will and Kate's day and I just felt that regardless of the past, this was about them and the Windsors could have shrugged off a bit of the starch and softened a bit. I wouldn't marry into that family for all tea in China.

she never tries. she looked a holy mess at Chas n Di's wedding too. my oh gave camilla the cart horse a big thumbs up, an example of quality tailoring over substance.

The 'thing' on her head didn't help much either!

Out of interest, where do you think the 'horseyness' in the family originated?

dunno, it just seems like their teeth never stop growing. small gene pool perhaps.

I don't pay any attention to that figure.  It doesn't factor in a load of royal related expenses, such as security and many other things under a threshold.

Even if it cost ÂĢ0.01 per year, the principle of inherited unearned privilege and status is one I find repugnant.

People who support the monarchy have no business criticising benefit scroungers.

Carnelian
Plus I think my record of never criticising people on benefit speaks for itself. Having followed recent events in t'Grauniad I can reveal that the only people more boring than those who would ram the wedding down our throats, were the ones who wouldn't shut up about how much they opposed it, wanted a Murdoch style republic, and would throw any articles in the bin. I think it brought a lot of pleasure to various people.
