I was the same with Cats...loved the second half, but the first half put me to sleep.  I think the original cast Of Phantom were fantastic, even though Micheal Crawford can't sing  

 

I never saw Cats but I did see Phantom.  Took Min for her 12th (I think ) birthday and have to say I found it quite depressing but wonderful at the same time...   Can't recall the cast but it was no one of Crawford's calibre.

Second half was fabulous, but you had to have stamina to make it to the second half 

 

Dave Willet's maybe? He took over from Crawford...worst ever show had to be Aspects of Love....it was dire

Wish that it had been..!  I'll have to ask Min - both leads were competent but a bit on the bland side.

Yeah.. I think they're all classically trained (I know David is)   He and the one with the specs were chosen to be in Gareth Malone's 'Voices' choir a couple of years ago - the others may well be from there too.  I'll find out at Chrimbo when his Mum comes to stay.
