The Twins (BB8) spoke a bit like that, so I'm guessing he's from somewhere near Stoke; the mention of Hanley was a clue!

Geordies are usually Newcastle n above.
Mackem so n so's are Sunderland.
Sandance-az are from the coastal area north of sunderland.
Pit yackaz are from County Durhamshire.
Monkey hangaz are Hartlepool.
Smoggies are Tesside.
Posh rich people are from North Yorks.
That's it in a nut shell.
It's a bit like the difference between Linden, Sudstadt, and Isernhagen. (only you will get that)

Some of them can be quite difficult to understand. My English hubby and I lived near Peterhead for a few years and some of the locals spoke with "the Buchan tongue". Most of the time, we didn`t have a clue what they were saying.
My own accent is polite, West of Scotland, although it becomes broader if I`m annoyed! Big Grin

I was wakened this morning with the sone shining into my window, it was lovely. I got up, full of energy, put on my trousers and jacket, walked down the road to the corner and bought rolls and sausages. I was annoyed that there weren`t any eggs left.
Afterwards, when I had eaten my rolls, I cleaned everything that was dusty, washed some windows, got the hoover out, and searched my son`s room for dirty washing. Work all done!

How`s my translation? Big Grin
