I'm not necessarily a Royalist but I do admire our Queen and her 70 year achievement...
I see flags hung up around our estate in readiness..
I might join in the spirit and celebrate...will you?

I would but cos of COVID ... I won't
But I'll be watching it all on TV - not a big Royalist but it's better than a republic and Richard Branson or Chris Patton or . . . as President
A modernised, well considered (with respect to traditions that are part of our heritage) Monarchy can be a huge asset.
And . . . she should be Princess Catherine !!

A Kate fan?
I totally agree (bypassing Charles and his wife) ...we need a modern monarchy if they are going to exist
I'd hope Charles and William could share responsibilities for a while and then over to William and Kate
And yes she's fit

I'm not overly keen on 'Charles the Cheat'...I'd be happy to see him step aside and let William take the crown.
Bin them. Privilege.
Why on earth would you admire the Queen? Hook line and sinker.
Dream on. Royalty is wrong. It's all stolen isn't it?
Duty. Feck it's laughable.Tell me the story of the Cullinan Diamond. The Jewel in the Crown
That proves nothing and you know it.
Talken down to like a four year old boy. Manners cost nothing.
You're beginning to sound like a Stepford Wife.
Now now ladies and gents - we agree to differ
I see Velvy's point, it's taken, it's privilege and that's why they have a duty to 'behave' and be an 'example' and that's where they fall short too often. Except William who seems to have done everything expected of him. So, like Slim, i'm happy for him to be King, i think he'll do a sterling job . . . and it's better than being a republic.
And relax
Iâd be happy to see William and Kate take over the reins âĶI like them both âĶand I think theyâd do a good job .
Iâm of the republican persuasion so I wonât be joining in but, if people want to celebrate and have a bit of a knees-up then that doesnât bother me.
But the prospect that the tonnes of plastic jubilee tat that supermarket shelves have been groaning under the weight of is going to end up in landfill, that does bother me

Agree with you on that ...a few flags that can be brought out again and again is one thing, but all the rest of it is frivolous waste.

Whatever everyone is doing this weekend, whether it be joining in the festivities or shutting themselves in with Netflix and a box of chocs, enjoy the Bank Holiday!

Yes we play both of those
At present we're still trying to get our heads around a game called 'Meadow'...we got it for Christmas last year.
My favourite is Backgammon, but it's only a two player game ...there's 6 of us

Watched the BBC coverage and thoroughly enjoyable it was too - except . . . Rita Chakrabarti saying,
"This might not be everyone's cup of tea . . . "
Why say that? If it's not then they won't be tuning in anyway, so why reduce a lovely day to an apology? There's nothing to apologise about, this is our heritage, today's heritage and it's great! Would they say the same if they were covering a Ramadan festival - I bet you they wouldn't. This is why our traditions are being lost.
Long live the Queen!!

Iâve never played Backgammon but I intend to learn how to one day.
I like Monopoly but when we play it never ends well!

Yes you must, it's a great game to play.
I was taught it by some Turkish soldiers when we lived in Cyprus.

Don't think I've ever won at that game

For some strange reason it makes me feel ... not proud ... but like it means something, something we can get behind, a collective identity (that seems to be always eroded where ever possible), something we look up to (when it's done correctly) and so much more pleasing than an elected Mayor or President. It's history and our heritage.

It's shocking how much the Duke of Kent looks like my Dad
