Me sentiments exactly Renton β¦..and personally I think sheβs done a bliddy good job .
She's done a wonderful job of dedicating herself to her country - would be terrible without someone like her - rather the Queen as head of the country than some 'President'

I think the Queen and her family play an important role in helping people know they will never be 'top dog' - she is - and so there's none of the scrabble for superiority or cut throat 'rise to the top' we see in places like America.
We kinda know our place (in the broadest sense of the word) and look 'to' the Monarchy rather than 'up' to the Monarchy for setting standards (of which they have often fallen short), but the expected standards are still there and I think William has done everything expected of him.

I agree Rentonβ¦.and , when ( and if) they get there I think William and Kate will do a good job as well .

I havenβt been too keen in the past , but he certainly stepped up to the plate today .

I've always found him to be emotionally aware (rare for a man in the public eye) and willing to stand for what he believes in (even if this has led to ridicule) which reveals a strong will. So I hope, and I'm sure, he'll make a great King.
The funeral is to be a week on Monday (19th September) and the country is officially in mourning until then. So who knows what will happen to ALL schedules of everything!

Very strange!
J've just read on the news that the funeral date has not been announced, but I definitely read it on the news pages a couple of days ago!!!!
Was it another case of someone jumping the gun?

I've not heard that date til you mentioned it - and now it's all over as the "expected" date.

I think someone let slip
It is likely that the Coronation will take place in the spring or summer of next year after a period of mourning, The Telegraph understands.
Queen Elizabeth was crowned on 2 June 1953, sixteen months after the death of her father King George VI

Ditto Renton
Sad for her family but she was a 96 year-old lady who died peacefully in her home (one of them) and not on a trolley in a hospital corridor.
And she had the satisfaction of sending Johnson on his way. RIP

Call me a pedant though but I was really hoping for a couple more years so she would overtake Louis XIV for longest reign at 72 years 110 days.
and reunite the family
How can you reunite a family member that's a traitor and pointed the finger of racism at them all?
