couldn't find the repair option Mrs H, will have to wait for daughter to get home to see if she can do it

i'm on the new lappy, and old modem, im trying to get the old lappy to connect to the modem, when this one isn't attached obviously  i've bought a router but we can't set it up by using the new laptop as it doesb't have a disk compartment and you need that for when you install the router

Aimee  - do you have a flash disc ?? you could copy the new software for the router on to it and then transfer from flash disc onto new lappy ?

failing that can you go with new lappy + old modem to the web page and install the software onto new lappy and then install from that ??

failing this you will have to set router up on old lappy and add new lappy after 

just a thought though if you read back to last nights posts you will see that you have to uninstall old modem before installing router software ?  
have you tried this on old lappy as it could be the old software conflicting with the new if you havnt uninstalled first

have you cleaned your cookies-temp int folders etc  or done a defrag recently 

if everything was working then it doesnt sound too serious but a clean up now and again helps
