evening all can't get my new router to work
whats wrong with it then Aimee?
think it might be the socket on the lappy, where you put the cable in

Noooo...that could be expensive Aims..Hang on Aimee. If you got a router, why does it have to be connected to the lappy?
when you set the router up you have to use the internet cable and ours want let us do it going to buy a different cable tomorrow and if that doesn't work, will ring virgin and if they say nothings wrong, we'll know it's the lappy
I dunno. I dont remember that being done when mine was set up Aimee. But, I do have the router attached to my desktop so that was probably why........
I hired a bloke from my local computer shop to do mine cause i'm fick
Now he looks after both my putters...........
looks like i'm going to have to get help, it says 5 min set up
evening
aimee there is a list of help and suggestions here - it may be just something simple
http://www.virginmedia.com/help/national/broadband/
moonie - it is recommended you make the initial connection through the RJ45 cable and then take it wireless after by most isp's
aimee did you run the software disc and add the router when asked to ? I ask this as sometimes if you plug it in first it wont work properly unless you do the sequence correct

once you have got the initial set up - lappys usually pick up straight away - find your network-put your serial no in and away you go - the initial set up can be a pain sometimes though
I do a lot of PC work - thats how i know I love problems
Hi mrs H, it was daughter sorting it out not me, i haven't got a clue about these things, it was asking for ip addresses and all sorts that we didn't have a clue about i'm going to have to ring virgin tomorrow

Hello MrsH I bow to your superior knowledge

*Makes note to take putter problems to MrsH in future* it was asking for ip addresses and all sorts that we didn't have a clue about
ummn sounds like she was going the complicated way or chose a wrong option - you should go for automatic assigned ip addresses - your router finds its way the only info you should be feeding initially is your user name and password and the number normally on the side of the router
I would suggest calling virgin - or do you have anyone that could help you with the aide of that link I left you ?
