My daughter just got a Compaq (cq60 311sa)a very basic model and it only has 2 gb ram  and an amd processor so altho it's fine just now I wonder if it will do in years to come.  But it was 300 quid so cant complain.  If you need office software go to the site http://www.software4students.co.uk/  where you can get 10 programmes for 35 quid. (Sure I got that info from someone on here)  A teacher friend lent me her office disc so i saved a bit of cash there too.

I don't see any software comes with it legs, could you check with your daughter what she wants ?  The 10 programme deal  on http://www.software4students.co.uk/ looks good.  My friend's disc just had 8 progs on it but that's fine coz it's my daughter's school's disc so everything will be compatible that she does at home!

If only that would work moonie.  What do you use? I have Macafee. Read somewhere that kaspersky is really good and i saw it in WHSmith for bout 19 squids.  No-one has a good word to say about norton.

AVG windows defender and spybot and I'm bloody exhausted now lol, ordered and paid for the one in 10 cauli

Don't know them.  Will go and investigate. Are they what you use then?

Avg free version is adequate & can be found online via google search.....FREE!

I use the one provided by Virgin Media ..ie their own..

My help was minimal

I used to have Norton.....had to take it to be cleaned and the computer shop installed all mine for me, so have used them ever since and had no probs whatsoeva......now for Austins phone ...............Only Joking
