Thanks for that!!
How's Canada??Are you all settled now?
********************************
Your welcome.
Canada is OK, bit sureal really, I cant believe that I actually live here. The conatiner arrived in Toronto yesterday, I went to get some things out of it that I wanted, it seemed strange to see my home all packed up here in Canada.
Perhaps it will be different when I move into my own house.

There are ways around it?
Heads up to those considering HRT, there are about 100 different kinds, so you can have the kind that will give you a period once a month, three monthly or once a year. Apart from this a giant bonus, HRT can be expensive, the less pills there are the less you pay. Get your GP to write you a long perscription. So you only pay for that. Otherwise you will be charged for every type of pill. Especilly as reducing the dosage means extra pills.

You must have a word with Mrs Joe sometime. As a clue things improved once she had a word with the Practice nurse who seemed better informed of options than the GP.

Yes but what about people that can't take it!!?
well I couldn't take and if you have fibroids they get bigger with the oestrogen
I tried everything available for horrendous hot flushes and my saviour was Homeopathy
worked just as well as HRT without the side effects of depression and a huge fibroid
I would really recommend trying it
I do still get the hot flushes and odd sleep patterns...but at least I can cope with them, now the period stuff is under control.
It's not suitable for everyone...but for me it's done the job without having HRT....so far!
I know loads of people suffer..and some really badly, but others have very little symptoms.I wonder if my increased anxiety with travelling, etc is linked in.Its certainly got worse as my periods have got more irregular.Other than that, fingers crossed a few years down the line I just wake up period free.Figure I must be due payback after horrendous obs and gynae probs over the year.My womb must get something right for me

Homeopathy
I know one of the remedies they use is snake venom (not as bad as it sounds) I was too bad for that and had Sepia (cuttlefish ink) worked like magic and not expensive
Youwould need to see a homeopath but the remedies are not at all expensive
You can buy Sepia at a certin strength in Neals Yard Blackheathh FGG

nope not mad
it worked as well as HRT but without the side effects I was miserable on HRT so depressed and ate like a tapeworm on steroids all that stopped when I stopped taking it
Sepia is the way to go
I'm resurrecting this thread because its official, tests have confirmed and the monthlies have stopped.
What holistic / organic treatments would anyone recommend?
Bloody hell! Cinds! the age (of this fred)
Sorry, I can't offer any help. Mine stopped a few years ago (about 7 to be exact) when I had the op. Was on HRT for about 5 years and seem to be ok
*Walks in - walks straight back out again*

Go with the flow. If you start taking HRT, you only get the sweats back once you stop taking them. I started about 5 years ago and decided to completely ignore it. If you're hot at night, stick you're leg out, you'll be putting it back in before long. The only other concession I made was buying a small fan for hot flushes. I always eat quite a bit of veg, take econacia to boost my immune system, I used to take my dog out more. Ultimaterly you have to decide with your quack, but I don't like chemicals and it paid off. I'm fine apart from the occational hot flush.
Well it has the word 'men' and 'pause' and that's exactly what i did.
Boom boom

There's an 'o' in it too though......don't forget about the o
I went "Oh" right enough LOL
If you feel a hot flush coming on hold an ice cold glass (bottle of milk is really good) under your chin (side of your neck) and swop sides from time to time ... and it WILL stop your flush instantly.

Haha I know, I went to start another then remembered I'd asked a while ago.
I'm the youngest of my 5 sisters and the first to have the complete stop, so Mam has got me a gold star

I get everything from my Mum, the fat gene, the dicky ticker, the forgetfulness, the 'blondeness', the big boobs, the acid reflux, the bad eyesight. If I get her mental early menopause too I'll cry. Real tears. She was 36, I'm 30 this year.
I really need to get a move on with the 3rd baby
On a serious note though good luck with it, hope you don't kill anyone x
TBH Ells, since the monthly thing has stopped I've been so much calmer, I still get hot in the night, but have adapted my sleeping to sticking the legs and feet out, like others have also done.
The reason I brought the thread back is, asking if anyone took any more natural treatments rather that HRT prescribed by the Dr.
To add a little fact to this here thread.....a simple blood test from your local surgery nurse will show if you are indeed menopausal....
Tis not age specific.....

A bloody miracle in a pot!
Haven't read back so may have mentioned this before in this thread, but after surgically induced menopause and hell on earth with hot flushes every 10 mins or so all day every day, hideous night sweats and all sorts of other symptoms, (hardly wanted to cross the door, how on earth I got to work and got through the day some days god on earth knows: needs must!) after just a few days the symptoms were massively reduced and I had my life back again. Couldn't recommend it highly enough and many of my friends will say the same... well worth a try at only ÂĢ14.99 a pot
OMG I've just read back
I had such a hideous time after my op' that I'd almost forgot how I was before it! Those tests I referred to <<< led to a cancer scare, discovery of humongeous cysts on my ovaries and the knife. Shortly afterwards I really knew about it!
And how funny that I'd never directly posted with Blizz and she subsequently became one of my closest interwebby friends
I've always been curious as to why it's called the menopause and menstruation when men don't have to physically experience either, but some men possibly have to deal with the fallout of emotional symptoms some women have when trying to deal with either/or
Your young for this aren't you cinds, must admit I've been getting night sweats recently but I'm still getting monthlies, does it normally follow when your mum started with it, think mine was in her mid 40s and she was a nightmare me, my mum and daughter all started our periods at the same time
I've messaged my mum to ask, because she chose not to have HRT and took some supplements from the health shop/boots and swore by them!
I'm pretty sure that the above mentioned Red Clover was one of them. She takes one called eye-q (could be spelled wrong) for her forgetfulness, and I think there's one that sounds like "ash" something. Will pop back when I find out
She also used sage tablets, drops and drank sage tea (still does) and yes, red clover
She also cut down on caffeine & alcohol
She said it doesn't work for everyone but it did well for her and she'd do it all again
Hope this helps
