Peri menopause can start anytime from mid 30s my doc informs me.
Only symptom I've had this far is missed periods.(hallelujah!)I've always slept with my feet out the bed and window open unless its subzero regardless of my age.Skins not too bad.Tits have given into gravity, middle aged spread/beer belly now evident but muscle tone elsewhere's pretty good

That was the only problem that I did have, Marguerita. The only thing is, they never went away and I still have them and I'm now 61 years old. They are truly awfy.
Awe I am sorry it must be awful hopefully they will go away and soon Hug

I'm 37, 38 in august, my skin is awful, I rarely sleep without aids, when I do sleep I wake up lord knows how many times sweating. Everything annoys me. According to statistics I should not get my menopause until I am in my 50's which is when my mother her mother and her mother before her got it. But then I read another blarf that said, you can go through menopausal symptoms for up to 10 years before it actually happens.

Can I opt out now?

I am worried cos someone told me that if your mum had a hard time.. then you probably will.

My mother seems to have had a twenty year menopause... mental woman at times. And the hot sweats were unbeleivable... she would be fine one minutes... and literally soaking wet the next (reckoned her and my dad would have to change the bedding a couple of times a night cos of her night sweats!)

She eventually agreed to go on HRT... (the horse wee one!)... which settled things down. But then she would secretly come off it without telling anyone... go completely pyscho bitch mental at someone (usually me)... and then phone a week later and say... 'whoops sorry... I'd stopped taking the HRT didn't think I needed it anymore!"

I don't want to be THAT woman!

Your GP can take take your blood and order a simple test to see if you are perimenopausal (it measures LH & FSH hormones). At least then you'd know... and any supplements you may need could be sorted out

Have you tried a fan for the night? I have Peripheral neuropathy and I have to have a fan trained on my feet and legs all day and night otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep for the pain and burning. But the fan has the dual purpose of keeping me from perspiring during sleep. The fan by my bed is on all night long.

I heard that too, I hope its not true, my mother wasn't mental, but she was in her 50's before she stopped menstruating. Please.

Its not that they get too hot, I just have horrendous night sweats, whole body. I have to change my bedding everyday.

oooh... the test I was telling you about is restricted to certain clinical details (due to funding)... but I do know that 'night sweats' under the age of 40, would mean we could do the test (and not bounce it back to the GP saying "derequested")

If I didn't have the fan on all night because of my PN, I too would be soaked in sweat all night but the fan stops that from happening. It's worth a try and they're very cheap now. My husband came home with two new ones for me last week and they only cost around ÂĢ7.50 each. It's the first time I have needed replacement fans for well over 6 years. The old ones still work but they are a bit noisy and rattley now.

I've just turned 50 and my GP tells me my menopause has been and gone due to having to have a hysterectomy at 36. Thing is, apart from a few tingly hot flushes about 10 years ago, I don't remember having any other symptoms! It really surprised me as all the women on both sides of my family had some awful experiences when going through theirs.
