we used to go loads in summer, a picnic and a swim in Ennerdale Water with the girls...it's close to Whitehaven

There's much more woodland in central lakes

62-63 was the worst winter I can remember

you can tell they are south lakes, they talk much more like us than North Lakes, much posher

I had just started work….in the bank ….and had to go to bank school on Wimbledon common ….trudging through thick snow ….I’ve never seen snow like it , apart from when I went on skiing holidays
